i sometimes sit down and do nothing for a couple of hours--usuall nod off to sleep. old habits die hard. i learned it from sunday meetings.
When I go to Home Depot for building supplies, I have this uncontrollable urge to knock on all the doors.
Rub a Dub
I resisted swearing but now have to restrain myself around the JW's at work so that things don't get awkward. Now I know in some ways, what a non JW spouse feels like lol.
You also end up learning about your own moral base because there isn't a God that is going to punish/reward you.
I still avoid hookers and blow ...
... but now I swear like a trooper, watch supernatural-themed TV and movies, believe in evolution and think religion and spirituality is a crock of shit. I'm not a bit meat eater so black pudding or game doesn't appeal to me anyway.
" I can't swear in general conversation (I'd have to be really angry)."
I never swore....in or out of general conversation. I did use 'Jesus J Jones!'
3. I have never had and never will have black pudding or hung game (I never thought I would ever have a blood transfusion if needed....but think that I probably would now).
"The taste is in the pudding" .....that's something a minister told me at the door one day as in "we'll see." That's the only pudding I wasn't looking forward to.
Game is usually bleed out at the kill spot or in a camp or someones back yard.
As far as Blood transfusions went I stopped believing that doctrine before I got out when I realized I would not let my wife or child die over a teaching that no other religion would enforce. It's pure insanity to carry a suicide note (the blood card) on your person.
Lucky for me I had open heart surgery and had to get 5 liters of blood to survive. That was over 30 years ago.....a lot of good times since then.
4. I'd never watch a supernatural horror film (Exorcist, \Paranormal Activity etc)
I judge a film by it's quality and acting. However I prefer westerns without paranormal activity.
5. I would never dabble in tarot cards, seances or anything to do with supernatural.
I am not a dabbler. Nor am I a participant in bull shit.
6. I still subconsciously dismiss things about evolution, cavemen or the big bang theory, despite me being 99% sure God doesn't exist.
That's a function of 'irrational ignorance' all JW's use it to remain in. It means it's not worth the effort of learning something if you can't speak about it.
7. I can't hear religious people on the radio or TV without thinking "that is not what the bible says" or "what a load of rubbish" and subconsciously tear their argument apart.
What you are hearing is not the religious information you received and thought true. Those are other peoples belief.
The WTBTS from day one thought it up first then found a scripture most often pulled out of context to prove their point.
As I was coming out of the religion I wondered why Jesus failed to mention so many significant things that the Society taught. Jesus left big gaps that the WTBTS exploits.
I have a JW habit I forgot to tell in my previous comment.
JWs are trained to provide a witness at every opportunity.
Yes, I continue that and use every opportunity to sow seeds of doubts in JWs now.
I underline the text on this forum on my iPad.
I can't hear religeous people on the radio or TV without thinking "that is not what the bible says" or "what a load of rubbish" and subconsciously tear their argument apart.
That's interesting.
Although not a believer, I find a good theological discussion interesting. (Just like I enjoy good fiction)
IMHO, the arguments of other faiths, especially orthodox flavors of Christianity are far more sophisticated than those of the JW's.
I am still in and I cuss I watch lord of the rings Harry Potter etc... and read all the books that really never bothered me. Hearing other religious views I still get in the jw mind and refute it till I remember it’s all bullshit. Several months ago I told a coworker I’m a witness and I still cuss in front of him. Guess I’m dying at Armageddon oh well hahaha. And what is this chocolate pudding thing I never heard of it? I had it at lunch today.
