Actually one of the most disturbing and creepy films I've ever watched was a budget tv movie called 'When a stranger calls back' - it was just one of those films that makes you really nervous

I must be a sad case, I have seen almost every film mentioned here LOL, I dont even enjoy horrors all that much...wonder why we watch em?

I think the modern slice em up movies arnt even scary, they are just gross.

House on haunted hill or "the legend of Hill house" scared me shytless when I was a kid.

But the best of the horrors are all mentioned here, a good selection to get out and watch on a dark thundery night when one is home alone.

I READ the "Shining" and I think that was the only book that REALLY frightened me the way it did.

You too??? I was reading it at grandma's, late at night. The only one sleeping on the roll-away bed downstairs. I got up to turn on the light and jumped from there to the bed, where I proceeded to cover my head with the blanket! Every noise that old house made scared me that night. Even when the old deep freeze kicked on I about had heart failure. And grandma had sheers but not blinds or curtains on the windows, and I was sure if I looked at them I'd see somebody or something looking in!!! I quit reading scary books after that!

Sheila~ I used to watch Dark Shadows when I was a kid. It scared me, so I'd make grandma (who babysat me while my folks worked and spoiled me rotten) sit in her chair, then I'd stand behind it and watch...but I had to watch! Gosh I was probably all of 6. Mom used to get so mad at grand ma for letting me watch it! (My bedroom had the attic door in it, and my bed was right next to it - I was terrified something was going to open that door some night!)
