    PR,

The boys and myself are real flag-wavers in our house, although Her Ladyship's colours tend to revolve around a certain Football Club.

This is a pic of my niece Alex (A girl BTW, dreadful haircut, eh?) doing her bit during the Queens jubilee:

Yes. Sometimes it is just a cult of the state. I see too often now that people are willing to forgo their own conscience and reason in the name of patriotism, when a democracy demands the exact opposite to work well. Then again, I have this feeling that we are heading into another age of facism. If so my flag will be:

I sure hope this picture sticks and we don't get the dreaded X. Eman, Alex is a very cute young lady, but what is she eating?? She looks as if she is really enjoying herself. Bug

I don't like the pledge. However, I really disliked not doing it as a child. Standing every morning and then being put in the coat closet for disobedience was no fun.

OTHO, I am not forgoing anything with my conscience for being happy I live in the USA. At least I can go to school, try for any job I want, vote, own property, not be *given* to my husband with a dowry, get an abortion and do many, many things women in many, many other countries cannot.

This is again turning into a *bash America thread.* Very sad.
