#1 Say "The purpose of life is happiness!"
Wait for knee-jerk reply ( "no, it's serving Jehovah")
Then say, "If you don't think that happiness is the purpose of life, then you must believe that some form of
UNHAPPINESS is the purpose of life!" This is especially powerful amidst Witnesses who take
anti-depressants - BUT I DON'T ADVISE oneupmanship here - just encourage them to think.
#2 "Why did Jesus avoid using God's name when he gave the Lord's Prayer - "Our Father in the heavens, hallowed be thy
name?" Simple but rarely thought about.
#3 "Why doesn't Jehovah allow the organization to afford subscriptions or food at assemblies?"
An elder actually said he was still upset about the change to no meals provided
#4 "If the organization keeps on losing young people and contributions, in ten years they won't be any different
from any other religion" You may be surprized at the reply - some may quietly agree.
#5 Wait for some negative rant about "this system of things ending soon" and ask the obvious
"So, does 'soon' mean a year? five years? TWENTY YEARS?"
If they then qualify the' soon' as indefinite, KINDLY point out that sadly, "I guess soon doesn't really mean soon anymore"
Try 'em! Spoken with kindness ( not sarcasm), you may 'awaken their long-dead reasoning powers.
