I clean house for a guy who practices Paganism and have asked him about his beliefs. I want to learn more about it and talk with others who also practice this belief.

A friend here on the forum has given me a few links but I also would like to talk with people about this who practice it. The more I learn about it, the more I like it. I am of Irish decent, so I think I would like to get more into the celtic beliefs, but I am open to opinions from all aspects of Paganism.

    Thanks in advance, Shari

After reading Ravyn's thread about The Other People , I decided that I jussss might be Pagan. Except I don't go to any of the meetings... or read any of the books. I guess that makes me a backsliding Pagan.

    Hi Wildhorses,

Since I believe that the creator/creators (I believe in a combination of creation and evolution) have both male and female attributes, I include the "goddess" in my spiritual quest. I honor the earth and the seasons. I adore a moon sex ritual but not in a group setting. In many cases, I think that all religions are saying the same thing or are attempting to lead humanity to a higher good--if they can get above the dogma.

I have read Ravyn's previous post about the other people and since I do not accept the Bible's account of creation (I dismiss it as Hebrew myth), neither do I accept the version she quotes because it incorporates the Biblical account.

As a non fundamental Xtian, I also accept the "gifts of spirit" which are, I believe, available to all who would examine the possibility. Thses gifts include prophecy and healing. Pagans also believe in this.

IMO, it is not difficult to combine the teachings of Christ and most of the new testament with those of pagans. They are basically saying the same thing just using different terminology.

I hope I haven't confused you more. I don't have time to go into greater detail because I have a busy day. If you want, email me. [email protected].

    Hello WildHorses,

I'm an animistic pantheist, so that makes me pagan too!

Dansk - also of Irish extraction

I'm pagan - I'm Wiccan. I'm also interested Celtic spirituality and Celtic Gods.

Do you have any specific questions about paganism generally that we could try to answer?

Alternatively, Mail me! I'm not too experienced, but I could maybe help.

P.S. Dansk - you never said you were pagan!! I felt outnumbered at the party!

    Sirona,

Interesting conversation we had at the party about your beliefs!

Pagan beliefs are a lot older than Christian beliefs so who's to say they are wrong? Most of the stories in the bible have parallels from earlier writings, and were obviously copied from these sources.

Don't forget the Jews spent years in captivity in Babylon and could have easily copied these teachings from them.

    Hi Search,

Yeah, I think some of us upset LT with our pagan ponderings! LOL.

I think what some people forget is that even though there are many neo-pagan religions that have only been formed during the 20th century, many pagan paths actually do hold the same basic ideas as earlier cultures. I remember someone on this board (FunkyDerek I think) saying that neo-paganism has no resemblance to older faiths. Wicca for instance takes some things from older faiths but yet offers a new more structured way of practising and worshipping. It has a mish-mash of ideas and methods, but the basics are there.

What I don't agree with are those who say that Wicca is an "Ancient religion". It isn't.
