Valis - what kind of 'reasonable' research, or 'homework', do I need to do that will convince me that twenty years ago hardly anybody was tattooed or pierced and now many millions are? There is no deep secret to the vagaries of fashion. A few people create fashion and millions follow like sheep. Those who follow often believe they carve an individual swathe through life, but more often than not are just second-hand mimics.

This is just as true with the style of music and art which during its time molds others to mimic its patterns. This has been a reality since the dawn of human time. There are very few innovators by millions of mimics.

As for personal bias, well personal bias is what personal opinion is all about and we all have those, yourself included.

Pic is blurry, my husband's signature with stars around it. I got it a year ago. Still love it.

HS, you are right, I probably wouldn't have gotten the tatt if no one but sailors had them. However, I didn't get it because "everyone is doing it". I got it because Steve thinks it's HOT and it was his birthday.

You can only see it when I where lowrider jeans or a bikini...or nothing.
