To the Philosophers Among Us.

Plato and Socrates did such a great job, that quite frankly, there isn't much left to discuss. There really is nothing new under the sun, just someone else saying it a little differently each time.

The fact is, as humans, we have a built-in need for answers. The paradox therein lies. There is one thing for certain: the created will never be able to understand the creator(s) in the body and mind we now exist in.

There are things we question but cannot fathom. The mind can play tricks on us too. There's just so much in the data base, that it's difficult to separate the truth from theory. People generally just want to feel good about themselves. They want to have purpose with a reward. Religion has seriously duped mankind. Life is not about the rewards necessarily. It's about having a good heart and leading a good life not knowing for certain what our end will mean.

I tend to theorize that we are delicate vessels created to be used by souls as they move on different levels of ascention toward divine perfection. They use us to experience living as a human being. In turn we catch a glimpse of a better way to exist, that we just can't quite grasp in this shell, in this level of existence. There is confusion and sadness until we realize we have no control. Perhaps in due time, having come to live our lives in goodness, with love and compassion, we will be granted an existence on a higher plane at some point. Only then will we begin to see the truth of the universe.

Sentinel, I think Im in Cahoots with your thoughts. I believe it is called theosophy. It is a new theory to me but I really think it is on track.

Philosophers may sometimes provide a text by which others may move forward intellectually but the actual "moving forward" is not accomplished by philosophers but by muscle and bone, by movers and shakers.

    In my opinion.

    Sentinel:

How was your vacation? Glad to see you back with us.

Very good post. Most I agree with.

Perhaps in due time, having come to live our lives in goodness, with love and compassion, we will be granted an existence on a higher plane at some point. Only then will we begin to see the truth of the universe.

But, the age old question is.....WHEN? How many people have to live and die before we can be awarded this great prize of "truth"? Maybe the truth is that there is no "truth", that we are born, we live our lives the best we can, and then we die becoming just a memory to those who remain to fulfill the same cycle. Would this be so bad?

Blueblades: Thanks for your thoughtful post. I have done my homework, and this is where I'm at. It's the only thing that makes any sense to me. Can I prove it? Nope. But, I don't have to prove anything to anyone else, because my heart tells me that I'm the right track. We each make our own personal journey, so I don't expect too many to understand my thoughts. It certainly is nice to be able to share how I feel, and to read about what others are thinking too.

Blackout: I'm glad to have you "cahooting" with me. I'm going to check out "Theosophy". Seriously, it is rather difficult to tell someone in a few words how I feel about "life, death, the soul" and how we fit into the universal plan. Actually, for me, "learning to let go of dogma" was a key to my epiphany in Jan. of 2002. Since then, things just seem very clear to me. That is to say, it doesn't really seem to matter if I have all the answers, because I believe that everything will be all right when all is said and done. I don't worry about it. I just try to do good and show love and compassion to my fellow humans. Perhaps it really is as simple as that. Humans tend to complicate their own lives don't they?

Hey there Shakita! Thanks for asking about the vacation. It was a very rainy vacation, but we made the best of it. Being on a cruise ship during thunderstorms is quite exciting. One of the nights, we laid in bed and watched the blue lightening come straight down out in the water. It was beautiful. I got to see my sister in Key West, and it was hot and extremely humid. It didn't rain the whole time we walked around and had lunch, etc. But, it rained later that evening and in the night. The following day we were in Cozumel, Mexico. Same extreme humidity there as well. Even the locals said it was very early in the season to be so humid. Because of the weather conditions, many people did get "sea sick". We didn't. We loved the motion of the ship, and slept especially good at night. It just all went by so fast.

Blueblades, I must say that every time I'm up in an airplane and look down at the tiny houses, cars, and people that can't even be seen, I give thought to how very insignificant we really are. And yet, the human race survives and grows and improves; and we are moving towards something wonderful. Yes, Shakita, it seems like nothing is happening, but it really is. And we will be so very surprised at how it all plays out--quite possibly within the next twenty years. The universal creators know exactly what they are doing. I try not to ever forget that.
