Bottom Line: The WTB&TS have acted and continue to act in a very cold hearted, dishonest way in most matters with members. It is a fact and there is ample evidence to prove it.
Why would "we" trust them with any judicial process? The WTB&TS stole or should I say, "borrowed" the idea (several) from other factions.
Since we arn't R&F JWs (ok, some must be),-- who cares? Take them to court.
To add to Blondie's comments, the JWs boast about their strict adherence to Biblical guidelines on dealing with bad behavior by their members. Yet they completely disregard the heart of the third step of Matthew 18 on dealing with someone who commits an "offense". The context clearly indicates that this "offense" is general in nature, but the Watchtower wants to know and control everyone's business, and so it claims that the "offense" is limited to personal offenses between individuals, and does not include "big" offenses like adultery. Thus they instruct JWs to report "serious offenses" to elders rather than doing what Matthew 18 says.
Matthew 18 also says very clearly that if the offender does not listen to the offended one or to the others he might bring along in order to "regain your brother", he should take it before the "ecclesia" -- which is Greek for the entire congregation. This is in line with the apostle Paul's counsel that the entire congregation was to judge an offender. The Watchtower once again subverts clear Biblical guidelines and claims that when Jesus and Paul said "congregation" they did not mean what they said, but rather, the elders as representatives of the congregation. Of course, if Jesus and Paul had meant that, they would have said "elders" rather than "congregation". All of this is obviously a control mechanism for the Society.

"big" offenses like adultery.
I believe it would be more accurate to say "big" offenses - as interpreted by the WTBTS.
Adulty is a "big" offense - according to the Bible. Having a cigarette is not. Neither is voting, or sending a Christmas Card. Neither is reading about Jehovah's Witnesses from xjw's. Neither is discussing one's doubts about the Watchtower. And the list goes on......"Neither is................"
All of this is obviously a control mechanism for the Society. -AlanF
WTBTS control through interpretation....or lying, cheating & stealing. Thanks.
Thanks for the post HS!
Hey Sword! We're all in the same boat.......still finding out about the WTBTS. And most of us are like Hilliary.......wrong about being blind about the WTBTS for all those years.

Thank you - and I agree.............the WTBTS interprets "offense" pertaining to it's desire to control people. Just like they class people & events......they class offenses too.
