Do you think that they are well meaning oldsters trying their best to serve God? Or are they corrupt Pharisees?

I don't think the forum rules would allow me to say.

I think they should and do know better. They are more concerned about the established organization than they are about people's lives. And even if a few might not 100% believe everything that comes out of their publications, where are they to go? Nobody would want to end up like poor Ray Franz.

Is that why Peter said "Lord where would we go away to?" Some may want to, but as you say, the only other way is out, which must be a frightening prospect.

But I must say in all honesty that Dan Sydlick struck me as a sincere individual when I met him, whereas others have not.

Victims of victims for the most part. Some of them, the ones who still have some brain cells, are desperately trying to hang on to their corporation and their people. They are to be pitied.

I've heard that said about Sydlik too. Some suggested he might have been reform minded too. Big deal.

I've been out of it for a while and don't even know a thing about the newer guys. But I think for the most part they are trying to do what they feel is best to serve God. From Ray Franz's look at the inside, I would think he would have exposed them if they were nothing but corrupt men, caring for nothing but their own power and position.

But there is obviously some level of corruption. Ray Franz's conscience told him so. Other members can't be that blind and must have had similar feelings at one time or another. There is overwhelming evidence against such things as 1914, and they have been presented with this and must be aware, but they dare not change anything. They hold too strongly to the "traditions of men". The whole culture of the religion is to change ever so slowly and only when it is forced. That indicates a certain level of corruption.

I think that they can also be corrupt while thinking they are doing the best or right thing, hoping the ends justify the means. I think most of their corruption is a fear of losing members or credibility.
