That would explain why he thinks some of the bravest men in the world are assholes...he's used to calling heros the cowards that convince 19 year old kids to strap a bomb on their body and kill innocent people.

I tried to join the Marine Corps about 2 yrs ago. Many of the guys I know in the military had about the same thing to say about the Marines as Hamas. They used the exact terminology,, now that I think about it.

Me: "I'm thinking about joining the Marines.

Them: "Why dude?! THey're all a bunch of brainwashed assholes!"

Me: "Yeah, but the uniforms are the shit man!"

BigBoi: I never have had anyone say that. In fact all the kids that were at the MEPS station that were going Army, Navy was awed that anyone would want to be a Marine. They have 13 weeks of Hell. "The Army recruiter said you men are in for some hicking and some walking these men are in for 13 weeks of HELL."

I think both statements have merit. It all depends on the situation.

Over the years I've known a handful of (retired) Marines and they were, alternately, funny as hell; silly; assholes; some of the best people you'd ever want to be around. But when the time comes to go to work (if you know what I mean), I wouldn't want any other man by my side.

Side note: my baby sister (I call her "baby sister" but she's in her forties) recently told me about her and some of her buddies hanging out with some Marines. All she could say was how respectfully they treated her... like she was hanging out with her big brothers. Made me feel good. Go Marines!
