I don't really feel sorry for the guy , although he is obviously upset. Did he think that he had a home for life? 28 years residency isn't a bad result - he must have known that sooner or later the site would be sold & he would be kicked out.

The Society gets its finance nowadays from building properties ( with free labour ) and selling a few years down the line - all tax free. It is basically a real estate development organisation - religion is a bit of a side show. Let this be a salient warning for any people volunteering their time & money to build projects and those assuming the Society will house them & care for them long term.

I do feel for this guy and even more so for all the other congregants that now have to travel miles to their KH and suffer all the problems of parking restrictions etc.

However, the real people to blame are all the Elders that signed the deeds over to the Kingdom Hall Trust back in 2014. As Trustees of the Congregation Charity their priority is to work for the benefit of that charity and signing away all the assets could hardly be called that! The Charity Commission don't seem too interested in such cases however. I wonder if this guy was an Elder and thus part of the problem. In any case I suspect after a video such as this his time as a JW will be limited either because he will walk or he will be disfellowshipped, same outcome either way.

Back in 2014 I told an Elder this in my congregation that this action would come back to bite him. He told me that even if all the elders refused the WT Society would remove them and replace them with enough compliant Elders to get the job done. I'm sure he was correct.

At George of England - That is exactly what happened with the Menlo Park KH in California. Google it to find out more.

Is this still for Sale does anyone know please ? I see that they have had to take the two attached Cottages out of the Sale, and I saw that the local Residents Association was getting up a Petition to save the field that is behind the Halls.

If it is still for Sale, if it is, I doubt they will now get an offer in excess of £3.5 Million as they were asking.

    Anyone know ?

    It's still listed for £3.5M: https://www.acorngroup.co.uk/commercial/property-sales/leisure-institution-corporate-asset-services-for-sale-in-pioneer-place-featherbed-lane-croydon/42866

And according to the Addington Residents' Association, the buildings have been vacated last fall.

The longer it sits idle, the displaced and inconvenienced JW's will feel very disgruntled, and may even begin to question if it was "Jehovah's Direction" that prompted this upheaval, or merely Corporate Greed, who knows ?

The guy who forced them to remove the two attached Cottages from the Sale did not help the Agents in their quest to find a buyer. it is not quite the prospect it was, without those.
