I remember it being said around the hall in hushed tones that the nephew of the president had been df'd.
I was young then, and always thought the nephew was a young kid off screwing around. Never thought that the man was part of the governing body and much older than I had thought.

Here in sweden this was an unoed thing, only a littel point in KM , that some have to be dfd in brooklyn, and that this was not anything to worry about, beaucause this shall happend in the last days, or something like that.
It is a bigg surprise to now read hes book and hes story, one thing i have think about, and this is that RF say that it was not independent bibelstudy in Brooklyn, but several others say it was, this is confusing, and when i ask i have no answers.

Strange things that the rumor-mills will produce when primed by the society. One conversation that I was privy to was between an elder and his wife. On the return trip from a circuit assembly I had the chance to ride with an elders family. I was a lad about to enter my teens so I guess the conversation was less guarded while traveling. The topic came up why Franz had been disfellowshipped, by the elder’s wife. In answer to the question it was stated that a conflict had ensued after he had requested to use the Watchtower and Awake mailing lists for a list of potential customers for an insurance business. The result of not taking no for an answer had resulted in being tossed out on his arse, so to speak. As a kid there was no way to confirm, refute or even research what I had overheard while quietly riding with the elder’s family.
MPO is that is was simply rumor. But, indicative of what kind of rumors can perpetuate when the facts are covered up.

Exactly! As several of you have mentioned here, the "rumor-mongering" that goes on in the WTS is incredible. And that's one of the things that's so insidious about the org: they can send out their CO and DO minions to verbally propagate, or insinuate, all kinds of crap; and if need be come back later and assert "We never said that." Rather like the KM schools where the elders make notes in the margins of their Fleece-the-Flock books--it's not "evidence," but it sure as heck makes a big difference in how they act and what they say when they get home.

I've wondered how the older men who were forced out ot Brooklyn are doing. If they were Bethel lifers there would have been no Social Security for retirement (not the SS is enough to live on). Does anyone know what the situation is?
