Are You Happy That You Are The Color Or Nationality That You Are?

    Color

Hmmm I wouldn't mind being a bit darker. As it is I am so white I could scare the ghost. When I do go out in the sun I burn even with 45 sunscreen. One of my daughters is like me but the other has her dad's Italian complexion. I am jealous of the beautiful bronze color to her complexion.

Interesting you asked nationality and only one person answered nationality.

I am Canadian. I can't think of anywhere else I would want to live. It is a beautiful huge country with a good standard of living. And I am free.

As for the race that many people have responded to - well you can see how little I pay attention to that since I don't connect color to race automatically (Ok I'm weird - I admit that)

    Race mix of

    • English
    • French
    • Ojibway

I must have missed the color part from the French and native and only inherited the english skin. Guess I can't really say. I don't consider myself any one of them. We have no cultural traditions in the family and I have almost no information about the history of my family.

Man I feel like an orphan most of the time

But would I change any of the above. Heck this is who I am. It has taken me long enough to figure out these parts.

    I'll keep it all

Yup, I am quite happy being Puerto Rican / American. I'm so damn white I glow in the dark though. I tan real good in the summer though so I am not blinding white at the moment. *lol*

Can't see wasting precious energy wishing for something that is impossible, but the answer is no, I do not wish to be anything different than what I am. " I am what I am."

Although it would be nice to look like I see the sun once in a while since I live in southern California, (if that were possible without risking skin cancer to my swedish/english whiter than wonder bread complexion!)

I want to be a malado.

I have two places where I am currently a malado. Under my eyes there are dark circles ....and there is one more spot where I am dark. This second place is as big as a quarter and kinda hidden. I can't say where it is but it's on my backside in about the middle of my body....( it's kinda gross or I'd tell ya) I like that color and I'm trying to locate the guy that turned M.Jackson colors and see if he can help me too and make me a malado.

I once worried in front of a friend about my employment prospects, considering I have a sharp mind in a cute dumpling body. I was afraid people at work were not taking me seriously.

Jane wisely said, "JGnat, I don't think that will hold you back. You work hard and people will see you for who you are."

Then it hit me. Jane is an immigrant. She is black. Her English is heavily accented. She went back to school and worked hard to get ahead in her chosen profession. It is obvious to any one who knows her well that she is a smart, compassionate, and capable woman. One can't help respecting her.

    Silly me.

I stopped worrying. And I stopped complaining.

I used to wish I was something other than plain old, boring white. Then I found out I am 1/8 Native American. That was great information for me. My great grandmother was an Indian, which was something of a family secret, until I got her marriage certificate and it clearly said she was Indian. Her father was an Indian doctor so that may account for our family's interest in natural medicine and herbs.

But I am primarily English and Irish, so that accounts for my light hair, but I have dark brown eyes, and tan really well, but usually avoid getting a tan...............too aging.
