A very big media frenzied scandal of members of the governing body themselves being pedophiles 'gay wouldn't even cut it' along with footage. Or a member of the GB becoming an American president. Something so public so global and on every news station for a several years solid.

I would answer, 'with great difficulty'.

Believers use 'faith'. This is the excuse they use for believing all sorts of nonsense.

At the end of the day, it takes the JW to become fed up or angry at the elders or something in the congregation to jolt them out of it for a split moment. It's at this moment where they may look at this site of JWFact.com.

When I was in I had an answer for everything to protect the Watchtower and my own sanity.

Something that brings down the whole house of cards for one JW may not impact the next one at all.

How many of us shared what we learned with someone else (perhaps a loved one) only to have them call us a filthy apostate, an opposer of the truth, Judas, etc.?

Because the WT indoctrinates JWs to believe that loyalty to Jehovah = loyalty to the organization, a large percentage of them refuse to entertain any thoughts remotely critical of WT doctrine or practices, regardless of what they see with their own eyes, what the Bible says, or even what the organization itself said last week ("Oh, that's old light").

That said, sometimes it works the other way. I have seen people leave the WT over things that wouldn't have troubled me at all.

That's why it's important to listen more than we talk and give JWs a safe place to voice their own questions and express their own doubts.

Apparently, by the years 1931-1935 all symbolic fish suitable for the kingdom of the heavens had been caught to complete the foreordained number of 144,000 joint heirs of Christ. (Matt. 22:10, 11) WT 1967 11/15 p. 694 par. 10 Orders for Worldwide Fishing

"Jehovah has established a limited number, 144,000, to make up the little flock, and he has been gathering it since Pentecost 33 C.E.Logically, the calling of the little flock would draw to a close when the number was nearing completion, and the evidence is that the general gathering of these specially blessed ones ended in 1935." “At a Gilead graduation in 1970, Frederick Franz, then vice-president of the Watch Tower Society, told the students of the possibility that they, who were all of the other sheep with earthly hopes, might baptize someone who might claim to be of the anointed remnant. Could this happen? Well, he explained that John the Baptist was of the other sheep, and he baptized Jesus and some of the apostles. Then he went on to ask whether there still was a call for gathering in more of the remnant. "No, no more additions!" he said. "That call ended way back there in 1931-35! There are no more additions. Who, then, are the few newly associated ones who are partaking of the Memorial emblems? If they are of the remnant, they are replacements! However, in 2007 the WTS received new light on the matter and the heavenly hope became available once again to a limited few. The Society's 2007 admission and explanation are as follows:

“In 1935 the “great crowd” of Revelation 7:9-15 was understood to be made up of “other sheep,” Christians with an earthly hope, who would appear on the world scene in “the last days” and who as a group would survive Armageddon. (John 10:16; 2 Timothy 3:1; Revelation 21:3, 4) After that year, the thrust of the disciple-making work turned to the gathering in of the great crowd. Hence, especially after 1966 it was believed that the heavenly call ceased in 1935. This seemed to be confirmed when almost all who were baptized after 1935 felt that they had the earthly hope. Thereafter, any called to the heavenly hope were believed to be replacements for anointed Christians who had proved unfaithful.

Without a doubt, if one of the anointed unrepentantly falls away, Jehovah does call another individual to take his place. (Romans 11:17-22) However, the number of genuine anointed ones who have become unfaithful is likely not large. On the other hand, as time has gone by, some Christians baptized after 1935 have had witness borne to them that they have the heavenly hope. (Romans 8:16, 17) Thus, it appears that we cannot set a specific date for when the calling of Christians to the heavenly hope ends.” --- Watchtower May 1, 2007 p. 30-31.
