I wasn’t aware that Margaret Keane did any artwork Watchtower, or influenced Watchtower art. I would be interested in that. There was a movie of her life that mentioned her conversion to JWs. Apparently there’s some controversy around whether she really did the artwork in her name.

As regards the Watchtower picture of the girl sleeping in the woods at the top of thread, it just occurs to me now that her complexion and dress doesn’t match the Middle East at all. Other pictures in the book depict people with (slightly) darker complexions and dress appropriate to the context.

Is this picture even meant to be set in Bible times? What is it actually meant to show? A 19th or 20th century girl sleeping in the woods in nighttime attire, watched over by an owl and black panther, with fireflies around? What is that?

Again the fireflies are reminiscent of pre-Raphaelite art.

The Watchtower picture represents the future Paradise, as described in Ezekiel 34:25.

Aha, of course you must be right. It’s different than any paradise picture I’ve seen before. Does that help with why they included a large cat, an owl, and what look like fireflies.

It’s also confusing because previously Watchtower was committed to outlining dual, or even triple fulfillments of prophecies. Are they saying this verse is only fulfilled in the future and didn’t have any initial fulfilment in the nation of Israel?

It does look a different artwork style to normal.

My take on this is that they are saying that big cats and other beasts would still be here in the New World, but friendly, just pussy cats . No longer dangerous beasts .

NB. I suppose the owl can’t hunt mice anymore?

This is the first time I have looked at this book . It’s a an old fashioned prophecy explaining book. It has major and minor fulfilments and all the old dates that we keep saying they are going to abandon. The gloss may change but the stuff remains the same.

Pure Worship of Jehovah---Restored at Last

It has a painting of a mountain on the front cover.

The picture of the female is about halfway through the book on page 111.

I noted this inconsistency in my review of the Pure Worship book (relevant section here). The scripture alludes to a cull of animals, but the Watch Tower Society apparently wants to make God seem a little bit nicer, just making the animals 'friendly' rather than killing them off.
