If the "slave" said to not miss one second of the convention and get the program on video for shut-ins, from song and prayer to song and prayer, then JW's everywhere would follow orders. If they were told that this was not the thing to do and that they should not record the prayer but record the song and talks, they would follow these orders. If they were told NOT to tape the program for fear that "apostates" would get a hold of it, they would follow orders............We were all so dumb.

I'll never forget all of the sisters who would try to control everything that went on in my pathetic little life. Everything from what kind of movies I rented to what kind of art I hung on my walls. Not to mention how I dressed. They have a way of controlling you by the way they always want to make ~~suggestions~~ thier opinions known on how you can be more ~~theocratic~~ like them.

This really describes my life by proxie to a T when my wife was first baptised. Things I'd collected over the years, books, records, tapes, things bought for our kid, quietly disappearing never to be seen from again. Every thought, every decision being filtered through and most often superceded by a WT article or whatever happened to be the "opinion of the day" from the old sisters she was studying with. Oh, they always "meant well", while I was cast as Satan incarnate if I offered any resistance.

1. You should go to bed early so you won't be tired to go out in service the next day.

2. You should get early so are alert to study.

3. You should always study the watchtower monday night the way bethel does it.

4. You should arrive 20 minutes before the meeting starts.

5. You should always buy a 4 door car (convenient to take others in service)

6. You should at least have 1 Bible study.

7. You have to go to the assembly you are assigned

8. You should go to the meetings when you are on vacation.

9. You should not drink any alcoholic beverage before meetings (new one from weekend assembly)

10. You should make at least one comment at every meeting.

Some of the biggest gossip-mongers in the congregations I attended were brothers.

I left a hall where the BIGGEST, literally and figuratively, gossip was a brother who was a servant; his malicious and false gossip to a special investigative committee got a good elder removed.

They dance around the issues taking the devils advocate position and stirring up contention. Keeping the masses feeling unsure as to their intentions and motivations. Hiding behind inuendo and superfluous statements.

"discouraging" you from associating w/ anyone outside the org, i.e, anyone w/ half a brain. Discouraging you from hanging out w/ "worldly family, so the only people you can associate w/ are dubs, preferably in good standing. So then, if you get df'd, YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE!!!! Huge control.

Oh, yeah, no education for those growing up in it, so if you leave you have no skills, & no one to "hook you up" w/ an unskilled job. No wonder people like Longo go nuts. Not that I'm excusing murder & infanticide. But, seriously, it's like the X-jehovahs witness protection program, You lose everything & cease to exist, just like on the real witness protection prog.
