    Welcome, Neo and Trinity

Ha ha! Cool! Now I just have to get me an outfit like that...

Ros, I am thrilled to the core at the prospect of meeting you! Your description of how we must feel is spot on...add to that the fact that I've been starting to recover some childhood abuse memories to boot...things are tough.

I'd like to say how grateful I am for the support and love of Euphemism. He's an excellent listener...he tries as hard as he can to be there for me all the time. And he's the one who helped me uncover my eyes and see the truth. I don't know if I would have made it here without him. Actually I really doubt I would have. I'm just so grateful to him for sharing all his realizations, feelings, and research about the WTS with me. I certainly wouldn't want to do this alone.

    Thanks, Euph.

Oh, and SYN, yes, we are getting married in the KH...unfortunately. By the time I got to the place I am now, the reception hall was already booked for the reception only and there was no other place we could have the wedding.

    Euph & Piph,

    Welcome both of you!

I lurked on the 'zone until it disappeared (couldn't meet the criteria for registering!), but wanted to express my congratulations to both of you on your recent marriage! I am amazed that all of these undercurrents were happening under the "My big fat greek wedding" facade.

I know it must hurt losing all of your JW friends and other issues that happen when you walk away, but you will find so many people here with open arms and empathy. It's a strange and scary transition, but we all have to be true to ourselves.

I'm so glad you have eachother. You are both in a great place.

My warmest wishes and belated welcome,

I guess you also answered the question in my PM... sorry for the redundancy!

I wasn't terribly surprised when Obed left, given his posts at Witnet. It was obvious to all that he had doubts and disagreements with JW thinking. It really shocked me when I learned about Daniel though. I always thought that he was an intelligent young fellow who had a lot on the ball and couldn't be taken in by apostate thinking. Apparently I was wrong. I'm so sorry to see him start off married life going down the broad road and taking his bride along with him. Such a shame.

It's a shame you can be so patronising when there is such a wealth of information debunking the crap from the WTBTS

*LOL* now that's oxymoronic...mostly moronic and less oxy, but I think you get my point...*LOL*

    Sincerely,

: I always thought that he was an intelligent young fellow who had a lot on the ball

    You were right about that.

: and couldn't be taken in by apostate thinking.

You were right about that, too. You just don't know in what way, so I'll explain:

A good deal of what Jehovah's Witnesses call "apostate thinking" is nothing more than a realization of facts that go against JW doctrines and policies. Since facts can't go against God, assuming that God is a god of truth, any facts that go against JW claims cannot be "apostate", if you accept the Bible's definition of "apostate" as "one who opposes God". Of course, we know that JWs have invented their own definition, i.e., "one who opposes the Watchtower Society", but this is obviously a self-serving and wrong one.

So in fact, Dan was "taken in" not by your silly notion of "apostasy", but by the truth. And more specifically, he realized that truth proves that "The Truth" is really riddled with lies, falsehoods and all manner of half-truths.

It's the deeply buried realization on the part of most JWs that "The Truth" is not the truth that makes them afraid to examine facts, and to label things they know disprove "The Truth" as "apostasy". It's so much easier to deal with the world through simpleminded labels than to examine facts and go where they lead, when one can see that they lead to realizing that JW leaders are not who they claim to be.
