I think that for those of us who took pride in their being a student of the Bible, we've had to come to the realization that we were never really Bible students. We were students of Watchtower publications. Once we have started reading the Bible on its own, we can see why the "faithful and discreet slave" instructs us not to read the Word of God without its interpetations. Reading the Bible alone is considered a sin by the Society. We need their help if we are ever to understand anything the Bible says. If it says that Abraham was going to heaven, it doesn't really mean that. If an illustration is given about that "faithful slave" or the "144000" it's not really an illustration, it is literal.

Minimus, I've never been a "Russellite", nor have I ever been a "Watchtowerite." Which is why I left the WtBTS in the first place. RR
