The elders have an unfinished business file and every time the Circuit Overseer comes around, that is the file he gives the elders the most grief over. Walkaways (called "inactive") first fall into that unfinished business file. During the recent campaign to contact inactive ones more than a few elders saw this as an opportunity to clean up that unfinished business file. It was a personal convenience decision and many of them made the best of a bad situation for them, by moving many of those inactive cards to the disassociated file.
Elders hate to contact inactive ones and they REALLY HATE to contact dissenters. It is their LEAST favorite thing to do. How many of us here can attest to waiting YEARS after leaving for that FIRST shepherding call?
The elders were pressured by their boss, the publishing corporation, and some of them turned it into a file cleaning exercise. Most of us are not people to them anyway . . . we are just cards in a file.
After the January, February, and March campaign, how many long time gone's here have been contacted? I'd guess not very many. Elders like to sit around and theorize, not call on hostile people. Most congregations have elders who know darn well why we left. They know it was due to their actions and they are not anxious to confront us. GaryB
