Which way will the Society go because of the Internet?

A recent study showed the following:

amoung those who say they will never go online, 71 percent are over age 50, 41 percent are over age 65. The relatively

small number of those aged 18 to 29 who do not now use the internet believe that they will go on line eventually.

Some 27 percent of non-internet users believe the internet is too complicated and hard to understand.

there you have the Watchtower's future for growth - the stubborn elderly and the inept - more of those window washers

and car pinstripe artists and the forgotten pensionless that the Society depends on.

But didn't they 'discover' the internet?

Are there any Spanish-speaking Sites or Boards for threads? Is there any interest?

Maybe the biggest way to counteract the JW is to educate the public. Honestly, many people think JW's are harmless people who dress alike and enjoy studying the Bible. Just because they aren't wearing sheets and handing out flowers at the airport doesn't make them a cult. However there are VERY few ministers and laypersons willing to educate themselves on this group, which is a huge dis-service to the population as a whole. Sorry for the babbling........

It has been said before, but there is no doubt they will label the internet as a realm for demons and apostates: really? no kidding!

Kind of sad, despite the apostate sites and freedom of information on-line, the internet could prove to be a great learning tool to them: but alas.....that is not the case.

The WTS is becoming an old persons religion. Eventually you will only see the old coming out of kingdom halls. The internet is not a big deal with those. The WTS can only exploit where there is ignorance and poor social conditions.

I think many of us are living testimony to the fact that heavy-handedness often has the opposite effect of what was intended.

I know for me, I got tired of going to Conventions and feeling like I had been beaten with a stick.

I mis-entered the url and ended up with a search and was surprised to see that the top 10 sites that popped up were PRO JW. This was not the case when I was first searching--just a few months ago. I guess they have learned something about how to make the "apostates" appear "below the fold!"

I just got tired! They were so boring! No wonder most of the elders did what they could to avoid sitting there for 3 days.

(The key is information and easy, private access to it. The JWs that will not go to a theater to see an R-rated movie, will rent one, buy one, watch pay for view, or wait for it to come out on cable. Those are the ones that will go out on the Net anonymously to view and read the forbidden. That is because in their minds they are serving men (not God) who cannot see.)

BLONDIE!!.......Excelent. I like that.....How true!! What is even sadder is that they feel by serving men they are in essence serving God. They preach that God sees and knows all.... yet who do they think they are kidding.

kgfreeperson, as with any web search, the slightest difference in the search criteria changes the results. Try searching just for Jehovah for instance.

Fear is the WTS greatest weapon. As long as they can keep the rank and file in fear then they will survive. Speaking from the perspective of someone who still attends meetings but can now clearly see that the WTS is false, I find it hard to believe that no one else there at the Hall is aware of what I am. I suspect that a good percentage of people who attend the meetings do so for social purposes, not because they believe what they are being taught. The problem is that you can't tell which ones really believe and which ones are just going through the motions. So you can't talk openly with people at the Hall and figure out which ones are pretending to believe and which ones really do. I suspect that as much as 50% fit this discription of "social witnesses." Just a theory.
