My sister just got a visit from the elders. This was the first visit in 10 years. An inactive friend told me they are supposed to visit every year. They basically told her she was welcome to come back at anytime to seek reinstatement. That will be a cold day in hell. Why after all this time.
Do you get yearly visits from the elders?

Why did she get a visit now? Perhaps an overzealous circuit overseer went back through his notes and found where it said that DF'd persons should be visited periodically to determine whether they want to come back to the fold.
I've been out 3 years and got phone calls from the local presiding overseer, which I didn't answer (thanks to the miracle of caller-ID). I then wrote him saying I was not interested in returning to the JW's. Haven't heard from him since.

From being active, never missing a meeting, always present and watchtower thru and thru, to simply stopping altogether after making the decision in one hour, I can honestly say I have NEVER been visited by any elders in my congregation.
What a sad, disgusting state of so called 'love' they possess. I am glad to see the back of them

The 2 elders that came by did not even bother to call first. She is listed in the phone book and our JW mom has all her #'s. That just reminded her of how arrogant they are.

As I recall, from back in the days when my father and friend's fathers were elders, df'd persons were visited every year to make sure that they hadn't changed their minds and wanted to come back.
I don't know if that is still the policy or not. I certainly haven't had a visit in over a year, and I'm not even df'd.

When I was a JW it was the policy to visit once a year to the DF'd in the territory. I can say for myself I have been gone 7 years and have never had an elder visit me. I have always wondered how many others that are DF'd get visited.

Hamas,
I did the fade the same way. From regular at every meeting to gone bye bye, never one visit from the elders; never a call.
Not that I'm complaining or anything....
It is amazing, though, how they are supposed to have all this "love" and how this one lost sheep was supposed to be rejoiced over more than all the other sheep. Give me a freakin' break. Just one more reason why they are not gods people; they love it when you get lost. They figure that you deserve it... just like pharisees did in ancient times.

Even DF'd are supposed to get a yearly visit! I've not had a visit and I'm DF'd or DA'd. I'm not too bothered about it, mind you.

My brother's now ex-wife got a call through her mother the other day saying that the CO's round at the minute and they're making an effort to get back inactive one's for the week. Is this a cynical political ploy to boost meeting quotas? I don't know, but it was with bare-faced cheek that they used the brother who had been their best mate whilst in the truth, but the persistent harrasser and back-stabber once left.
As an aside, did anyone else find that they tailored the elder's visits to the lamb being visited? When I left, because it was mainly academic reasons I left, they used to send round the science expert from the body of elders, whose credentials lay in having served at the brooklyn bethel, knew the references to the creation book and worked in an electronics factory.
I would love to get a visit now, but they must be avoiding my house...
Later,

If this guy knew the references in the Creation book then why is he still a JW? If this guy read the Creation book and looked up the references and is still a JW then he is by no means an expert in science.
