I'm pretty much in the same boat you are bendrr except my father has only spoke to me once since I was df'd in 90 and I was 21 at the time. Let us know I wish you luck and strenght.

I'll be thinking of you, too. I don't really have any arguments except to say that in my own case, the shunning actually made it easier to stay away. A little contact every once in a while would have pulled at my heart more than the slammed door.

It's 20 after 5 now and I think Mom said the convention lets out around 5. So I'm figuring by 6. They're gonna do some visiting on their way out, then wait in the traffic leaving the Centreplex. Then it's just a matter of go thru 2 lights, turn right at the third, and turn left at the next light to get on my street. Then of course they'll have to stop at the two lights just before my place, the lights are just 1 block apart but horribly un-syncronized. Sometimes they change completely opposite each other, sometimes together, and sometimes - oh this is the worst - you'll leave one and right before you get to the other it changes to red. God I really hate those damn lights! Especially on Sundays or late at night or early in the morning when there's almost no traffic whatsoever. Then I usually just run them.
But that's beside the point. They should be here any minute. On the premise of stopping by to see this apartment which they haven't seen yet and to let my [step]dad try out some of my homebrewed beer.

Not much to say, just play it as it comes, they may come and say nothing about the whole JW game, and just go about their business.
But, I would like to hear what happens, so post again after they leave, and let us know how it went.

Your situation seems similar to mine. My parents treat me the same way. That's why I moved really far away, so that I could delude myself into thinking that they don't talk to me due to distance. I hope everything goes well.
