If they ask you to study, politely decline and say that you would rather not at this time. If they ask why, just say that it is for personal reasons you do not wish to discuss.
Period.
If you don't give them any ammunition, they cannot fire at you.

Why would you want to sit down and study with them? If you're here don't you know what they are all about? Why don't you go to www.ajwrb.org and run of some info from there and ask them about that stuff? I am not even a jw and when I had questions they had a frenzied bible study over and over. Personally I think their books and articles are aimed at undereducated people and completely non-sensical. Here read this and regurgitate it out....blek!!!
Why play by there rules?
Tell them you have a personal relationship with Jehovah and he will judge you not them!

My oh my. Look at all these posters saying "don't do it" to a simple bible study. I'm conducted many a bible study with inactives that wanted to make sure about the beliefs and none are disfellowshipped. Go for the study, at least even if you decide not to be a JW anymore you will be sure of what your doing. And not just following what these mean-spirited apostates are telling you.

Sounds like the ball is back in your court, for now. Play your cards the way YOU want to play them.
It would be easy for me to say... don't study with them.. are you crazy! It certainly would be crazy for me to study with them. I'm no longer have the threat of having my family turn on me..been there done that and paid the Doctor bills.
But, I am not you, and although lots of members of this forum can voice their opinions.. they are not you.
But ... it sure is nice to voice ones own opinion and not get axed for it.

sword of jah: reading a wt book is not a bible study. reading a whole book of the bible ie matthew, luke, mark, john in order is a bible study. just thought i would let you know , what a bible study is . it seems you have never had one. b/c if you did you wouldn't be going around defending the wt. i think i told you to follow the study i out lined in this thread some 6 months ago. I am facing about the same situation, but for different reasons. If you go to the link below you will find a quite fascinating study of their "creation" book, complete with mis-quotes and flat out deceptions.... however I am not sure how they are standing behind this book right now, but I was recently sent a copy by my elder father, who is encouraging me to get my 12 year old son involved.(not)
I have printed out the whole site, cut it up in little pieces and stapled the appropriate mis-quotes to the right pages... I am only about half way through (because I am verifying everything with the correct literature)... but the "creation" book has doubled in thickness with all that I have had to add. Like I said, I dont know what the response will be, but if you approach it innocently enough, maybe you will get them to answer to some of these things...
