    Oh people please.

Bonezz was spot-on, with the exception of me, no-one was making light of this accident.

I made light of it because I have whats called a sense of humour. A witness had an accident....not the end of the world was it?

I liked the quote ' The persecuted becomes the persecutor'...but it was totally irrelevant in this thread.

If you were upset or annoyed by my quip....

you need to chill out and get yourself a sense of humour.

Laugh all you like dude, that doesnt mean you have a good or better sense of humour than those who dont laugh with you. And what if you did anyway? wtf.

All of the posts have poked irreverance at the Borg and how they will treat this accident

Thats the point Bonez, even in someones bad "luck" we can think the important issue is "the borg" and not the accident. Dont matter none though, I'm just being irrelevant.

Brummie...when I had cancer I used to joke that if I were still affiliated with the Borg they would be finding ways for me to witness to other cancer patients so I could count time and give these people hope. You know what...the Borg didn't give me hope...the worldlies respected me and gave me what I needed...love and care. The whole point is to show that the Borg rarely gives out those necessities of life to just anyone, especially worldlies. They will hand out platitudes like I mentioned. "...at least they now have the hope of resurrection"...If the "brother" was street witnessing, they'll talk about how that probably saved his life. I remember elders telling me that people who died now got the "easy way out of this system". NO, making fun of any victim is the furthest thing on my mind...but pointing out the cruelty of an Organization that twists all kinds of tragedies and accidents to fit their perveted sense of "truth" is my main concern. I think that is relevant.

PS. I was shocked at searchforthetruth's comment at first but it too is a jab at how the Watchtower Society treats victims...THEY EAT THEIR OWN!

Shame, shame, shame on you searchforthetruth - here is this pooor unfortunate brother who can't stand up to defend himself (hasn't got a leg to stand on so to speak) and you are mocking his situation. What if he had lost an arm? your comments wouldn't be so (h)armless, would they?

    Good call Nina!

The rest of you making jokes about it, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!

What happened? An 86-year-old who shouldn't have been behind the wheel in the first place killed people because he was behind the wheel! Just how in the hell is that funny?

I've seen it first hand and so have you! He said he hit the gas instead of the brake.

Well let me tell you something. A few years ago, there was this sweet little old lady of 81 who was a customer at my shop at the time. She left the parking lot one afternoon squealing tires, going the wrong way up the street, taking out a street sign in the process, and came to rest in the parking lot beside the shop fortunately with no one hurt.

Miss Lee had told me and the manager several times before that her brake pedal would go all the way to the floor and not stop the car. When the cop showed up this time, she told the same story. She sat there in the driver's seat and told the cop that her brake pedal went all the way to the floor and she lost control. The cop had me examine the car. Her brakes were just fine. The only pedal that went to the floor was the gas pedal. And that's just what went to the floor when her foot pressed on it. I watched what happened. She drove out of our parking lot and attempted to brake at the entrance to the street. She didn't hit the brake pedal. She depressed the gas pedal with the force one would apply to the brake pedal. What happens when you do that? Exactly what we all saw from the office of the shop with our hearts skipping a beat as we watched her Cutlass Ciera squeal tires and accelerate into oncoming traffic. If Miss Lee were still alive today (died within a year of that, from what I remember) she'd still swear to you that she hit the brake pedal but I know and the cop knows and the rest of us watching know that she didn't, she hit the gas pedal by mistake.

I had another customer who was another "sweet little old lady" IN HER 90'S. The first time I met her was when she nearly caused a pile-up merely turning into our shop's driveway. That shop sat on a 6-lane highway. 3 lanes in either direction plus a turning lane. She made a right hand turn into our driveway.......from the furthest left lane. Just juked it right on over across two busy lanes of traffic including 18-wheelers. We heard squealing tires and horns honking. I honestly can't believe there were no collisions! A cop followed her into the parking lot and gave her a stern warning but no ticket. He should have took her license right there on the spot. Know what she had to say to me about it? Well I told her I'd seen what she did and told her she needed to be more careful and turn from the correct lane. She told me that she didn't do anything wrong. She'd been driving for almost 20 years without an accident. Ok, let's back up a little. This lady was IN HER 90'S! I know because she proudly told me. She bragged to me that she didn't get her first driver's licence until she was 77!!! And in her mind she hadn't done anything wrong.

You think young drivers are a threat? Yeah they can be, but guess what? Next time you have to pass a big Buick doing 30 in a 55 zone and feel the urge to laugh about "grandma" or "grandpa" behind the wheel, well it's not so funny now is it?

Just a quick note to let you know that out of the 9 dead and some
injured in the run away car incident at the Farmer's Market in Santa
Monica (we visit that), one brother got struck. Brother Kavelin, a
friend of ours who wrote the song "Make The Truth Your Own", got struck
and has both his legs badly broken. It looks like he is going to survive
and we are so thankful, but what a horrible situation that has been.

I see nothing wrong in what was written or the way in which it was written. It would be just as if I were writing to one of you and saying something like the same.

"Hey Danny, you know that Joel was in that accident where 10 people were killed? He wrote a book called, Exiting the JW faith. I think he will survive and I am thankful, what a horrible situation this has been"

I do not think that whoever wrote this letter was saying that this was a horrible situation for the Witnesse's just a horrible situation in general.

I honestly think some tend to pick apart anything which is said by a JW, pick it to death.

Cassi, not trying to pick too much class.

    bttt for some reason....

  • wha happened?
    wha happened?

yea I remember this incident. The family couldn't find Frank. A JW in the cong was a physical therapist and was able to trace him to UCLA through a Dr she knew. We all cried with joy upon finding he was still alive.
