I think I have read this somewhere, but do the Jehovah Witnesses believe that Jesus came and spoke with some members of the Watchtower organization? Is this a lie, or do they truly believe it? If it is true, do they state it in any book or magazine?

As any good JW will tell you, it's all about the parousia (sp?). It was an "invisible presence." Meaning, none of us could see it, perceive it, or see any difference whatsoever. Clear, huh? Makes a lot of sense, no?

I mean, you've got a prince in place who's "coming" has been foretold for centuries, and you claim (in retrospect), that it happened "invisibly". Right. Got some ocean front property in Arizona, if you believe that.

The jw's believe it, but it is based on wrong and inaccurate information. The jw's calculated Christ's heavenly reign to start in 1914 because they believed that Jerusulam fell in 607 BCE. That was the critical date. However, they are dead wrong on that. One of the most proven dates that almost everyone cannot deny is that Jerusulem fell in 586 BCE. and not 607. The jw's calculated everything wrong. The only significant thing that happened in 1914 was a world war. Others can elaborate here..... So, the answer to the question is that no, Jesus did not arrive in 1914.

Yes, he comes every year to the Bethel.

    Just kidding.

I have hear the "invisible presence" thing before to.

Here's my question, I saw on a couple of threads, is the Watchtower trying to change Christ's return from 1914 to 1992 ??? has anyone heard this theory ???

I left the WTBTS cult 2 years ago, but never heard that they wanted to change the year of Christs second coming to 1992. I think if they tried that one, then everyone would smell a rat, and drop out, except for the really stupid ones.

In answer to the original poster about this subject, NO the WTBTS did not believe that Jesus directly told them that he had come in 1914.

By the way, it was not only Russell who started the 2520 thing off, in fact a Dr Gratton Guiness published his count of times way back in the late 1800s and stated that the 2520 yrs would run from 604 BC when Nebuchadnessar became King, and would end in 1917 which is exactly the year when the Muslims were kicked out of Jerusalem.

The Muslim date for 1917 is 1335 which just happens to be mentioned in Daniel.

Mohammed was regarded as the false prophet who comes out of the desert, and the Holy Place has been defiled by the Dome of the Rock.

So there are other explanations for the 2520 years that could be relevant.

The Witnesses have taught that, Jesus returned in 1874 as well as 1914, the Holy Spirit ceased to operate in 1918, Jesus appointed the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation as God's official printing corporation in 1919, and that God puts his thoughts in the mind of Joe Rutherford and he wrote those thoughts in the Watch Tower magazine and it was printed up and mailed out to paid subscribers by the Watch Tower Publishing INC.

The Watch Tower Publishing Corporation is Divinely directed but not inspired and getting things like dates mixed up and having to issue new information is in no way to be seen as correction of error. The printing corporation is only run by fallible humans and they are not perfect and it is not by any means a conflict that people are disfellowshipped for understanding this fact and not thinking that they are God's channel. After all, the people did dedicate themselves to the publishing corporation at their baptism and the legal department can supply the documentation to all who ask.

    Hi Garybuss,

After all, the people did dedicate themselves to the publishing corporation at their baptism and the legal department can supply the documentation to all who ask.

I don't understand your statement. Could you explain please?

    Thanks,

    IW

    Hi Garybuss,

Don't know if I can agree that it means they are dedicating themselves to a publishing company but I think I understand where you are coming from.

    Thanks,

    IW

IW, What does the "Organization" represent if not the publishing corporation? What else is there? Please let me know if I have been missing something all these years.

The dedication is to a god of the publishing corporation's description and to the publishing corporation itself. That's a double whammy!
