Clergy Condfidentiality in this instance doesn't apply to anyone on this board. It doesn't seem that anyone here is involved. However this information was obtained, the "cat is out of the bag".

FAX this to every District Attorney in Florida, the State Attorney General, the Florida US Attorney and the US Attorney General. Let them sort it out.

This matter should be turned over to the authorities and let the professionals handle it. If the evidence is insufficient, spotty or improperly obtained, it is better that some Prosecutor deliberates that than anyone here.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't it just STUPID that the WTS seems more concerned about investigating the possibility that this "baptized brother" was smoking marijuana than they are about his being a mass murderer?

and why is there a creepy rendition of "From House to House" playing in my head right now??

Sorry reporter - my eyesight hasn't been so good as of late - didn't see that sentence - so my theory holds correct.

This still does not invalidate the clergy confidentiality situation however.

But it is sad that they gave no recommendation to strongly encourage this man to turn himself in & give "Ceasers things to Ceaser" - I can't believe this.

And that they are more worried about him smoking dope after being baptized - unbelievable.

    My sincerest apologies Reporter.

More worried about smoking dope...precisely! Don't worry about the other stuff...I retract my indignation! I was wondering what was going on

Of course, this entire letter would have been worded differently if he was "unbaptized." If he was unbaptized, the Society probably would have left it up to the elders as to report him to the authorities or not. It looks better in the news if someone isn't officially baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. But if a person such as this is baptized, whoa, we better not let this news get out or we might make Jehovah(read: the org) look bad.

For crissakes, they wanted to form a Judical Committee because he might have been smoking pot, but they're not going to tell the authorities that this guy is a mass-murderer and that the elders should just cover it up?

Ah yes, the reputation and the unspotted, unblemished reputation of Jehovah's Wifely Organization comes first. Forget the fact that he's committed a teenie weenie crime like murder over and over and that they're harbouring him with full knowledge of what he's done, the purity and unity of the congregation must be preserved at all costs.
