Alan, regarding the symbolic heart, I sent 2 letters to the Society regarding my question as to how they could possibly think that it was a literal heart that is spoken of in the Bible. It seemed obvious that it had to be a symbolic heart that the Bible writers referred to. The first letter I sent recieved no reply. So about 7 months later, I sent another letter asking the same thing. I did get a response and it was for me to be patient, spend my time in the life-saving ministry, and wait for the "slave" to bring out any new information to us. The next week, we got "new lite". The heart was symbolic after all. (Hey, I knew that and I'm not even professing to be anointed.)

    Mini,

The weird thing is, if you'd spoken about your understanding from the platform before it was "new light" in the Watchtower you'd have had to face a JC for apostasy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The amazing thing, Minimus, was that those morons came up with the idea in the first place. About ten years ago I mentioned this bit of nonsense to GB member Albert Schroeder in a context of "things that bothered me and put me off about JW teachings". His comments indicated that most, if not all, of the GB were really into this idiotic teaching. They had very, very good evidence to back up the teaching, he said, even though it turned out to be wrong. This just goes to show how stupid these men are, when people of average education and intelligence can see what they cannot -- even with their claims of "divine direction". God must have been vacationing in another universe when his "anointed remnant" came up with that nonsense.

And let's not forget: Originally, the Society viewed the heart as symbolic.= Present truth, new lite, back to present truth....I mean new lite.

One good reason for me was that I realised that the people in the 'troof' were no better than so-called worldly people. My circle of friends now are much better and much more honest people. I also have some ex-JWs as friends.

I also got sick of all the failed prophecies. I told my mother when I left that the generation doctrine would have to change. Sure enough, four years later it did. Now that's what I call prophecy!

I got tired of putting the WTBTS ahead of life. They demand too much time. Really were is the pleasure of sitting through 5 boring meetings of the same old hash and they use guilt as a motivator. "Can you really tell Jehovah that you had the circumstances to pioneer, but didn"t". Self worth is not built on hours, placements, or bible studies. Two small coins of little value never seem to register with these people.

I gave them 18 years of my life. Not once were these people there for me in my time of need, but thank God my "worldly" family was

I just got tired of all the shit I had to go through to be a good JW. It just wasn't worth the effort. It took many years before I understood it was all a bunch of BS to start with and I had been hoodwinked by a few old men in Brooklyn who thought they were God's appointed servants and could tell all men what to believe and do in order to be blessed by God. When I realized they were no more appointed than anybody else and had been false prophets on every doctrine related to the end of this world I felt free at last to draw my own conclusions on God and religion. I am forming my own conclusions now on life by what I observe on this planet. It may take the rest of my life to decide what I believe, but at least it will be my decision and I will be responsible for the outcome.

You've got to be kidding. They really said the Bible was talking about the literal heart??

I remember when the article came out saying it was figurative, and giving all this 'proof' of it and everything...I didn't realize it was 'new light'. I remember thinking, "Why are they spending so much time trying to convince me? Isn't it obvious? Duh?"
