Wishing you all the best. A friend of mine had valve replacement, he's recovered well and is now back at work full time. Not to minimize the recovery, it's painful, but it is a very common procdure nowadays, as others have mentioned.
Keep us updated!
I'm going to be at work tonight and tomorrow night, so while I'm there, I will check the patient teaching information and see what info is available for you.
Love, Scully
Hi again everyone,Orangefatcat, thanks I hope so too.Waiting to see the Cardiologist.Good news is my visit has been moved up five weeks earlier from Sept 22,to August 15,.

Thanks so much to all! Blueblades
Sorry to hear of your condition.
If your physician recommends valve replacement, have him explain all options and contra-indications to you. There are several valve options besides a mechanical valve. Several tissue options including donor and pig valves. If the Doc. can't or won't explan this to your satisfaction get another opinion. Which may be a good idea anyway before deciding on surgery.

Jaysus H. Christ. Look I don't know much, but I do know this. Get yourself premedicated before EVERY trip to the dentist. 4 grams of amoxicillin an hour before putting your buns in his chair.
A friend of mine just died from that very thing, but he got to suffer for 8 years before it finally got him and it all started going down hill when he had his teeth cleaned absent premed.
