The accused admitted abusing me and apologized but it was made clear by the Elders that he was not being DF'd for abusing me but instead it was for being a Drunk. OMG!!
Good Lord! Were the elders drunk when they made this decision? Wouldn't surprise me. So being drunk is a far worse offense than molesting a child eh? Sounds about right...........what a bunch of assholes. But of course, there HAS to be more to it than that...........my sister said so.
When Dateline aired some time ago, and told my mother about the show, and she watched it. Now, my mother is one of the staunchest JW's ever. After she watched Dateline, she told me she believed the two girls on it, and said that what they were saying was probably the truth. She then went on to tell me how years ago, there was an elder who was molesting his daughters. (He's been long gone since then)
But even after telling me this, her attitude is that it's an imperfect organization and there will always be things that happen like that, but Jehovah weeds them out.
I'm telling you, this is the general attitude of all JW's. You can show them all the truth and facts you want to about the borg, but they insist on believing it's "God's" organization, and this type of stuff will happen in the time of the end. So you might as well go and have a conversation with a brick wall, cause I think it would be more reasonable.......
anyone else try talking to their immediate family members about what's going on? What's the reaction?
My sister has the exact reaction as yours does, she won't allow herself to think that there could be any truth in what "opposers to Jehovah" say. It's apostate information, Satan is behind it all, they're only disgruntled ex-witnesses, etc etc.
Trying to reason with her on this subject only results in her getting upset and angry. She takes any criticism of the WTS personally, as if I was criticising her. Of course I'm not, but that's what her reaction is.
Now, we have to stay clear of discussing any subjects to do with the JWs for the sake of our relationship. Although she's disappointed in me leaving the Borg, she keeps some familial contact with me. In the past, she has told me that I "sound like an apostate". Maybe she can't allow herself to admit that I am an "apostate" (per JW's definition) because that would cause her to have to choose between the Borg and me. So for now, we only talk about family and current events, and steer clear of anything to do with the WTS.
AARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Isn't this all so like the borg. The elders are so f***ing protective of one another. Here's one of my stories... Another sister and I had gone to dinner w/ an elder friend of ours. We had a few margaritas. Went home to his place where his wife (also a friend to both of us sisters) was sleeping (she wasn't well so hadn't gone with us). Soooo .... we were making too much noise in the living room ... elder wife woke up and told us to be quiet (loud giggles). So we went into the master bedroom and elder friend pushed sister (not his wife) onto the bed and while on top of her he was madly tickling her and she started getting mad and squirming, she said get off... he didn't she got louder complaining. Elder's wife came in and grabbed sister friend's arm from under her husbands body and told me to get her outta the house. sister friend was real pissed off because she hadn't done anything wrong and Elder's wife had been a good friend of her's too.
So I happened to mention this whole thing to another elder friend and he said I needed to go to my elders and tell them. Phew...right? So I did. And with my husband beside me I faced my friends and told the story, sister friend was also visited to get her story. So we talked about that for 2 minutes and then the elders asked if elder wife had a drinking problem (which she did) and we never ever discussed the sexual harrassment of sister friend again. BTW this Elder friend had faced 2 sexual harrasssment lawsiuts (settled out of court)at his business, but nobody wanted to hear about that. I was mad and on my way out (of the borg)anyway, but this entire incident did NOT effect this brothers prestige in the cong, circuit or district. Nice, HUH?
PS eventually he was caught in adultery with a regular pio he'd met on a motorcycle trip. Elder's wife conveniently died. Oh yeah... he did have to step down.. but people STILL cowtowed to him. SHEEESH
