I am also surprised someone said that from the stage. There was an Awake that came out in the 90's on the subject. I remember part of the rhetoric in that magazine was quoting the scripture where it says that Christ died once for all time. They continued to reason that if there was intelligent life somewhere else in the Universe, then we couldn't say that Christ died once for all time. I think I'm remembering that right. [ Edited to add this: No I didn't remember that exactly right. Noumenon's post below is a more accurate explanation of the JW reasoning.] Of course, at this point we have no evidence that there are UFO's. But if there is other life out there, who's to say at what level their intelligence operates. It could be something on the level of an amoeba or it could be something so much more intelligent than us that they would view us like we view cows. In one of my philosphy classes, we had a mock debate. One side was the humans and the other side was a super intelligent aliens that wanted to use humans for research and eat them. So basically the humans were pretending to be cows pleading for their lives. Back on point, I think that Awake's argument was flawed if you consider Christ had to be an exact equal of Adam. If there is other life out there, there's nothing to say that it would be similar to humans or anything we have ever imagined.

Venus is about what the earth was prior to the Flood
Really? So the pre-flood Earth had a surface temp of almost 900F?

I think the dinosaurs were around for the reason of the fossil fuels that we use today and besides they were very cool animals . UFOs on the other hand, I have never seen any convincing evidence to even entertain the thought that the planet earth is being visited by aliens from another planet. I doubt that any biological life could survive the distance of travel from other solar systems and then, why come all that way just to play head games with the residents of the planet earth?

"Venus is about what the earth was prior to the Flood, and it is interesting that some astronomers have advanced the idea that animals like the DINOSAURS that once roamed this planet are now finding Venus a HAPPY PLACE in which to live."
I guess if you're made of molten rock, then Venus is a great place to live. LOL It's hotter than Mercury actually, because of the atmosphere surrounding it. I guess the Happy Dinosaurs run around on fire and in agony until they die.
Imagine a commercial for it:
Come visit Venus, homeland of the Dinosaur, and your 400 Degree Fahrenheit destination. (Cooler by the lake.) Come one and all, and visit the land touted by the famous J. F. Rutherford as, "A happy place in which to live."
Our operators are standing by.

Fossil fuel comes from dead vegitation, not dead dinosaurs.

BTW, I agree that I have so far never seen compelling evidence to conclude that aliens have visited our world, or that they even exist for that matter.

ROTFLMAO @ ashitaka . I am sure the dinosaurs played and impotant part of the eco system just like animals today .There are alot of things we will never know about the world of the dinosaurs .

The society's reasoning is that UFO's are not real (and could be a hoax or trick of the demons, similar to ghosts, to distract people from the real issues) because this planet must be the first where the issue of universal sovereignty has come up. Here is where Satan fhas irst challenged God's right to rule, and the rightness of his rule. If other sentient creatures more advanced than humans exist and were around before us, then logically Satan would have gone to their planet and tested them out first. Also, Jesus would have given his perfect life as a ransom for those alien beings on that planet. And he would only have needed to have done this once for all creatures in the universe born in God's image. If that had happened mankind would not have gone through all that misery we have since Adam's rebellion, because the issue of universal sovereignty would have been settled on another planet.
Make sense?
So hence it is not in harmony with scriptural reasoning to believe in UFO's really. It is flabbergasting then that the convention speaker said such a thing. He would no doubt have been reprimanded sternly for it I'm sure.

I believe that there very well be life on other planets. Just because the bible does not make mention of it it doesn't mean it isn't so. There are millions of galaxys just like ours with an earth, sun, moon etc. just like ours. There may be people out there in other galaxies that are just like us. Why not? Maybe Jehovah's sovereignty was not challenged on any of those other planets. Maybe we will never know

All I can say about UFOs is that there is no conclusive evidence and until I see something that can be proven is not manufactured on this planet by scientific evaluation or if aliens offer transportation to another galaxy (of which I wouldn't wait a second to do) then I totally disbelieve that the earth is at this time being visited by beings from outerspace . I think there have been alot of falsified evidence in the ufo alledged sitings . I also think the governments that have space programs may be responsible for covering up some confidential programs. I know there have been some instances that the government admits they were lighting night flares and such to practice various military manuevers. If people would just stop jumping to conclusions and imagining things this whole phenomena will go away.Oh yes and quit tripping on lsd .
