I'm not sure why people think this letter is a forgery. It may be, but why? It's a perfectly reasonable request - namely, to remove copyrighted material from a website. It's extremely polite and well-written, as is Ray's style. As the creator of the work, he has the right to say who can use it and to what extent.

A lot of people will have received this letter today but no doubt the person who started this thread is the owner of the site in question. I think this person is just a sh*t stirrer, it doesn't matter how good the work someone does they have to comply with common courtesy as far as copyright is concerned.

Ray has always come across as kind and helpful and reasoned and I suspect if this is genuine, it may reflect that he wants to control where hsi works appear and does not want them associated with some who are overly aggressive and 'bitter'.
I think his considered tone and approach, similar to that of Randy Watters, helps many more people than the militant approach that some advocate.
It's perfectly right and proper that he has unathorised material like this removed IMHO.

Since we are not supposed to cross-post (hint...hint), EMan, I will say one thing in Kent and Janh defense and that is they have both been threatened by Ray for displaying pieces of COC on the internet in the past. As we know Kent gave so much materially and of his time for FREE and there are those who might question whether COC is distributed to make a profit or if it truly is to help people learn the real truth.

We may, or may not, agree with Franz - but it's still his copyrighted material.
I don't agree with Franz on a couple of things - but that doesn't mean I don't respect him. I didn't agree last fall on this forum, and don't want to go through it again. We're all individuals.
Kent has given freely - but he's also employed and decades younger. He's done a great service for Jehovah's Witnesses in freeing them from the WTBS.
Ray Franz has given freely also - but he's 90. He and his wife are far beyond the time that they go out and find suitable jobs for income. His book is his income & his own words.
I think the point would be......Ray Franz wrote a book & copyrighted it. Ray Franz then has the authority to say where his book is reproduced......or not. Obviously not in this case.

I agree with this statement:
We may, or may not, agree with Franz - but it's still his copyrighted material.
and as usual I agree with everything else waiting stated.

I'm just batting a 100% this morning with you - and it's Monday! But then, that means the rest of the week can only go down, eh?
Thank you, kind sir.

Um, translation please. Por favor translation, gracias. Seriously, this entire thread is patently silly. I didn't find a damn thing wrong with Ray's letter (if it really was his) or his intent. Bradley
