Back in the olden days, there were 2 circuit assemblies each year. When I was in HS, it started Friday evening, FS Saturday morning, and program the rest of Saturday and Sunday.
A few years after that it was shortened to all day Saturday and Sunday. And then it was shortened to one day (Saturday or Sunday) and called the Special Assembly Day. Instead of the DO visiting, the circuit would be paying for a Bethelite and his wife to come for the main lecture. A circuit's status went up when it was some Bethel heavy.
What reason were you given for the shortening of 2nd circuit assembly to a one day assembly?
