I have a very hard time explaining it though.

jwundubbed - I love that machine. I've thought about making a Mbria it has metal pieces that you play like an piano. But it also is like a music box which was also in the machine you posted.

Unfortunately, my mac died and I am debating on whether to replace with mac or go to the darkside and make a pc. So all my sketches etc as well as my ability to post pictures is gone. I'm just getting back into doing art after all the wasted years of the WT. So sometime I will get something going Jayk.
Steampunk is a world of What If? What if the world went to steam instead of electricity. Where like the Victorian age, things of everyday use were beautifully adorned as well as useful. One of my projects is a 1890 ish violin case. It's cracked down the middle so I don't feel bad about doing things to it. I've seen where people fill it with expanding foam and make it a gun case (not doing that) Possibly tea caddy or liquor case. : )
Some very old artwork done for a game company the short while I was out of the WT.
That's awesome, my uncle used to work for midway games. I draw very abstract but I've been trying to get into more realistic and get some style down. I'm gonna PM you my book idea you seem like someone who would like it.
@Days of Future Passed,
Awesome name! Fits JWs and the Moody Blues!
I just saw something on the instrument you mentioned. Found a ton of amazing instruments on youTube. All new to me.
If you are going to do art then you should stick with the mac. Mac is good because they get less viruses, but most people who use art programs use the mac. What they have is just miles better than everything else.
What I have seen of steampunk looks very interesting to me because it involves repurposing old items. I watch a tiny house episode on TV where they used steampunk designs. I thought it was kind of neat. It showed a inventive individualism of design and I like that. One of a kind look. The cookie cutter housing we see today is just to boring to me. Being unique to me is the way to go. Still Totally ADD

The premise is clear enough, and I love the art form, but have a hard time with the boundaries. For example, would you consider the time machine in the 1960 movie (The one with Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimieux) to be a precursor to the movement? I think an argument could probably be made either way.
This is our Halloween outfits from three years ago. The weapons are Nerf guns that I altered. Still looking for another occasion to wear this as we change our costumes each year.
I love it!
jwundubbed I loved my mac, don't get me wrong, but... the old macs you could upgrade or have a chance at fixing because they had a tower. Trying to do any kind of fix is impossible nowdays for most, because of the design. But I hate this kind of forced "rely on us" kind of thing. The very thing Apple was against - the 1984 big brother commercial - is what they have become. For the same reason, I'm really feeling like giving up on Photoshop elements, Their "new" and "Improved" product is just annoying. I wish I could use the version I started out with years ago because it was simple and it gave me the results I wanted.
Still Totally ADD - I like it's uniqueness too. There was a program on Hulu I think, that had steampunkers doing "rooms" That was cool to the max. : )
TD - I think the time machine is steampunk. Just ahead (or behind) it's time. hahaha
LisaRose - I love your costumes! You could easily go around a steampunk convention with those. Must have been fun making the guns.
