"Can you tell me the names of the ones Jesus appointed in Brooklyn as his Faithful and Discrete Slave in 1919?"

Individual names of the GB is not the important thing it was the organization as a whole not any one man,the same as the ones at Pentecost, the names of those there are not the important thing, men are imperfect and made mistakes and so is the organization ran by men the Zions Watchtower was not and still not infallible:

"They do not claim that this slave class is infallible, but they do view it as the one channel that the Lord is using during the last days of this system of things." Proclaimers p.626

"I'm struggling to think of anything that Russell taught that Jehovah's Witnesses still accept today"

Only the Scriptures are infallible but understanding the message from God then was like a dim light coming from the darkness, the darkness the bible students came from the false Churches into Jehovah's wonderful bright light of truth. When a person is in pitch black darkness and a bright light shines forth can one comprehend that bright light in its totality,NO,so how could the Watchtower understand from the beginning all of truths contained in Gods word.

Proverbs which is from God says,

"But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established." Proverbs 4:18

These ones just left main stream false worship and brought those beliefs with them ,its unreasonable to think they left the the false worship and suddenly in light of this passage came to full truth that they have now.The scriptures dont support such a belief:

    New Living Translation
When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.

They were spiritual babes coming into Jehovah's wonderful light, some still smoked, some still wore crosses and other things associated with the Churches

Does truth change? NO,but the understanding of that truth has and still become clearer

"If not going to war is your criteria for who the fds is. Then what about the amish?"

Thats was not the only criteria Christ looked at,the spiritual feeding and preaching his new incoming world Kingdom.Did the Amish preach about Gods Kingdom being established,NO

    Matt 24-14

And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness

Deut. 18:20-22 ~ "20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken"

    1914

    1925

    1941

    1975

    2000

Is it not abundantly clear that WTS/JW's cannot be "speaking for God"? They cannot and do not qualify as the F&DS.

Indeed, they were preaching about The Kingdom during this time period. What were they preaching? That the Kingdom would fully come to power by 1925. Read these books. Learn something. Stop the regurgitation of revisionist and white washed history fed to you by your religious leaders. Research is your friend, not your enemy.

An Old Testament prophet's role was not to predict the future always but to proclaim the word of Jehovah to the people as given to him by God himself.

The prophet's primary role was to communicate the truth about God, to warn His people of their accountability to God and of the impending consequences of their actions whether positive or negative.

    Jeremiah 35:15
However, I have spoken to you again and again,* but you have not obeyed me.+ 15 And I kept sending all my servants the prophets to you, sending them again and again

Speculation is not the same as prediction,
Prediction means that you have evidence to back up your idea. Speculation is a prediction without evidence or very little evidence.

Speculation about dates doesnt mean they were predictions of future events and the speculator never claimed to be inspired of God

Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers.

Alex, why do you not address my post? Are you not concerned with what the Scriptures actually say when it comes to what you believe? If you read the two full accounts that Jesus gave you will see that he entrusted over belongings/gave the minsa to slaves not based on any criteria of them already proving to be faithful. Being found faithful is based on when he returns he then will judge what was done with his belongings/the minsa. Also notice that there are only two interactions with the master, first one when he gives the belongings/minsa to the slaves and second one when he returns to judge them based on what they did with them from the time they were given, until the time he returns. That means the time period covered here is from 33 c.e., until his future return at Matt 24:30. That rules out any such time period of 1914/19.

I know you JW's hate the Bible and prefer WTS publications...but give these a read:

    (Matthew 25:14,19,21,23,26-27 Luke 19:13,15,17,22-23)

sparky1, I read those books about a year before I left. I found the Harp of God at an antique store, and the other was in my uncle's library which he let me read.

The Harp was used much like other WT books today for studying with interested non-jws. The Way to Paradise was written by Van Amburgh, a member of the WTS board of directors (no GB then but the board functioned as a GB de facto).

The Way to Paradise is a book that puts forth 1925 as the end of the system as well as many funny speculations.

I agree both are worth a read to get a simplified summary of WTS doctrines then.

There are other sources that might be better: Google search using "The Way to Paradise" "Van Amburgh" pdf

    The Faithful and discreet slave:

    Travel in Business class

    Stay in Star hotels

One or several trips abroad yearly.

    Free Insurance... Salary and perks...

Oops... Are they really slaves. Something doesnt fit right here.

Providing proper food ? ..Nope... Several of their food had been stale or poisonous.... killing thier own people (Ban on organ Transplants and Blood transfusions, several wild predictions about Armeggadon that never happened, stabbing on the back of their followers with a secret tie with the united nations....)

Even in their own "Proclaimers" book wt Inc reproduced the original message, in german too, at the time of their so-called inspection, appointment or F&DS anointment in 1918-19. about the generation:

"The Words has ended, Millions now living will never die"

Do you see millions of centenarians in the congregations? of course now the generations rather than the being OS, has morphed into the anointed overlappers, that will die, contrary to what Jesus said.

!919 generation prophecy was false, proven because we will not have millions of baptized super seniors, and the

2019 generation is a false prophecy because it contradicts Jesus.

wt is not discreet, because it keeps going out on a limb, before sawing it off, and

wt is not faithful, because it is not faithful to Jesus' own words.

    Alex,

So you don't know their names. Everyone in the upper room knew the names of those taking the lead.

You don't know their names means you don't know who was chosen and you can't answer Jesus' question.

You don't know their names but you can tell me the continent they were chosen on, the country they were chosen in, the state and the city they were chosen in, the offices they occupied in Brooklyn as well as the month and year they were chosen to be the faithful slave.

Its strange that you know all this information, but that the very unnamed ones were propogating the lie that Pastor Russell who died in 1916 was the faithful slave. In fact those allegedly chosen ones in Brooklyn never knew they were chosen; they went to their graves clueless.

It was only on 2012 that it was revealed to the GB of JWs that these unnamed men were chosen to fill that office....and that they, the current GB inherited that office by divine succession. Amazing.

    As the GB has pronounced.

We are the faithful and Discrete Slave that alone understands the scriptures and through whom you must be saved. If you do not accept us you will be destroyed by Jehovah. This is what the Bible clearly teaches. Put your faith in us and survive Armageddon which is just around the corner.

I wouldn't exactly call Rutherford's raging Anti-Semitism "bright light," but even were that not the case, your answer is still wide of the point.

It's nonsensical to claim Russell as a spiritual forebearer if you disagree with virtually everything he taught.
