Belief in the afterlife is like wearing a condom -- it provides a false sense of security without any guarantee.

Those who cannot accept the reality of their own inevitable death cling onto religion, whether an Egyptian Pharaoh, a Hindu, Buddhist, a Mormon, Islamist, Jew, Christian, or any other.

Thinking that you won't taste death?

Crazy, just plain crazy. Beyond being duped , it's a total disconnect with reality.

On my previous post, let me clarify that I understand that being raised in the 'truth' is different.

We all give our parents the 'benefit of the doubt' and believe many things because we trust their honesty and integrity. That is a given.

But, if you were converted from what ever faith was your previous, and you fell for the 'millions living now will never die'. I dunno? A not nice selfish thought, and not very likely, historically speaking, to say the least

The big mystery all through the book "Catch 22" was "Snowden's secret."

In the end of the book we all find out what it was.

Snowden's secret is that we are all made out of flesh and blood...thus mortal.

Although religions fail the test of reality, they provide comfort to the vulnerable. An illusion, nevertheless.

It certainly makes no sense for one who professes to know Jesus Christ to be afraid of death.
