Reading the Bible in 6 months isn't "anything to brag about" - Anthony Morris

The 2015 Annual Meeting, specifically, Part 1, right about minute 27, has Anthony Morris emphasizing that "you're better off reading one chapter (of the Bible) and really absorbing it" than just reading the whole thing "as a challenge".

While I agree with the the whole idea of meditating on ANYTHING you read, it was doing this very thing that brought up so many unanswered questions. I also came to the constant realization that the JWs did not have a clue about what the Bible really said. And this was over many, many years of being a JW.

Of course, his very second emphasis is "put ourselves" into the publications. He also pooh-poohs the available videos when compared to what we can read. This is very interesting, since he's announcing the change in the Theocratic School. He pretty much makes fun of the current Theocratic School. Everyone dutifully has a good laugh. When I pointed stuff like that out before, I got dragged into the backroom, in front of my husband, with a stern "talking to" and a comment to my husband that his "wife needed to learn some subjection" to the congregation. And this is when we were a pioneer couple with hubby being an elder. My husband, to his credit, told them they were out of line and that he agreed with me.

I am so glad not to be part of this organization anymore. I wanted to hear this particular presentation to deal with my JW family, especially so I can hear what they're hearing.

I don't think I'll be doing that anymore. Life is SO much better without these yahoos trying to tell me how to live my life.

I especially love how the Annual Meeting audience clapped just for the name change, without even knowing what the new change was.

The level of "yes men" mentality that has increased since we've been away just blows me away.

Ironic, since one of the tasks for new bethelites is to read the Bible cover to cover in the first year. I would read several pages at a time and then realize I had lot concentration and didn't remember a word I had read.

Meh, for a read, the Bible is far more interesting than any of the publications. You get boozers, prostitutes, war, intrigue, jealously. Talking animals, monsters, sons bonking their fathers wives, ladies hammering tent pegs into heads, bears ripping apart ignorant children, extraterrestrials impregnating human females, & brothers selling each other into slavery.

    I mean really.

What his ulterior motive really is , he is saying it impossible for you to understand the bible. It takes years and years of study to find the hidden codes since our entire religion is based on turning a parable into a prophecy and twisting things into the apocalyptical books of the bible.

If you read the bible and really didn’t study like we do you might think the bible is the story of god coming to earth in the flesh and the transfer of the blessing from the jewish people to the body of Christ.

No No No. What the bible really is , is the story of the heavenly hopers and earthly hopers and the overlappers and the 1935ers and the faithful slavers and the evil slavers and 1919ers and on Tuesday its is the blah blah blah blah. Bamboozle Bamboozle.

Basically don’t read it, read our books and send us your money.

    Lying cocksucker.

I love it when these guys say they are presenting solid spiritual food which in a few years gets tossed in the trash can as old light.

The thing the WTS has always instigated was that they have true bible understanding and through them alone.

Ironically in 1919 when they first proclaimed that statement they were preaching nothing but false biblical interpretations.

I guess that's what freedom of religion is about selling yourself and the products you may be selling as unregulated self promotion.
