This is only one thing I agree with Morris on, but I tend to agree reading something as large and thought provoking is sometimes best to read a bit here and there and let it absorb into your mind.

I think they've read this forum and find a lot of people become atheist simply by reading the Bible.

Remember folks no one can truthfully interpret the bible correctly except god's chosen ones the GB / FDSL .

If you want correct and truthful bible interpretation, you'll have purchase one or more of the organization's (WTS.) published literature. We have been exclusively chosen by god because we do interpret the bible correctly, so be very thankful of that.

"you're better off reading one chapter (of the Bible) and really absorbing it"

Good idea! How about Chapter 6 from the Gospel of St. John?

Er, sure ... a bit at a time. I must meditate further on why two of the three people who made it out of the Sodom/Five City onslaught thought it was a fine idea to get dad drunk and boink him.

How did Ruth get into Boaz' bedroom unnoticed at night? Burglary?

What's up with Judah visiting prostitutes & then ordering his ex daughter in law Tamar burned (while pregnant) for allegedly being a prostitute?

Did Jesus eat any of the fishes and loaves?

How did God "forget" about Noah & crew floating around? Busy with what exactly???

Yuck I couldn't get beyond the audience being commended for sitting in their seats like good boys and girls before the music started and the other conventions being ticked off for not doing the same. Talk to them like children and they love it. I just don't get it. It drove me crazy when I was in.

JWs recite the Bible, they don't read it as in studying. They "read" it like Catholics "read" the rosary, or Muslims recite the Koran. It's more of a ritual, a standardized procedure, than actual reading. It has nothing to do with the mentality of reading books. There's no critical thinking involved; there's nothing intellectual in it.

It can hardly be called "reading".

I wonder why he said that? Surely if JWs actually READ the bible and absorbed it, a few things might happen.

They might wake up to the lies of the cult.

They might see the contradictions in it.

They might carry on 'waiting on Jehovah(tm)' to explain why they found things in it that disagree with the cult teaching.

Nothing might happen. The hamster being dead but the wheel spinning thing.

Was this TOMO3 just showing off to appear superior? (The drunken old sod).

Each of us does well to ask himself, ‘Do I immediately apply everything I read in the Bible and in the publications of the faithful and discreet slave class, even when it requires making personal sacrifices?’—Matt. 24:45

“They say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But, strangely, through such ‘Bible reading,’ they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom’s clergy were teaching 100 years ago…”The Watchtower, August 15, 1981, pp. 28-29
