Of course people can and will use and be known by a name other than their given name but that isn't the issue here.
As has been pointed out by others it is WT themselves who have insisted upon the use of correct full unabbreviated Christian names for Brothers who give talks, that is indeed WT's own "direction" (order).
If they are going to command such things they should at least set the example and obey it themselves.
The dubs used to say Jehovah God. ( Predictive text put in the capitals ). Like God is his surname.
This thread should be in the joke section I`ve had a great laugh at some of the comments posted .
{ Ed is Jehovah`s second name ,hello Ed is thy name }
On a more serious note, my father was called by a nickname at an early age and spent most of his life using that name, including on some legal documents. Even his parents stopped using his birth name. When he was a retiree, he received a letter calling him for jury duty/ it was addressed to him by his nickname. The court disputed that his given birth name was his and, despite his protests, the judiciary did not believe him and he faced prosecution for entering a “false” name (his real name) on a subsequent court document. A common-sense speaking defense lawyer argued there had been no malice or attempt to deceive, and henceforth he was informed by the judiciary he could use both his given name and the nickname interchangeably. Both had equal legal weight.
They should all go by their first two initials like old CT Russell and JF Rutherford and NH Knorr. It would make them sound much more important and set them "on high"!
just saying!

Interestingly, on JW Broadcasting, Lett is always mentioned as "M. Stephen Lett". Check in the Morning Worship section:
