IN a world of just over 6 Billion with just over 6 Million Jehovah's Witnesses, means that there is a 1,000 to 1 ratio of "Worldlings to JW's" ... in my 25 years, I more than preached to my 1,000 assignment ... and helped 15 of those 1,000 to become JWs ... sooo ... I did my fair share ... and now I am a retired JW and an ex-JW ... sitting back in full comfort watching the rest of the JWs do their fair share ...

I agree with those that are saying the d2d work is way too much looking like a publishing company trying to sell magazines than resemble the way that noah did things .People in the US have access to literature about religion everywhere and anywhere so it seems a little redundant to send people knocking on doors but I really can see the neccessity in some parts of the world for people to use this method in order to reach people in remote areas that have no means of getting ahold of information .I'm not as bothered by the d2d stuff as most of you seem to be but I do think the WTBTS way of doing it is a disgrace .

Beyond what has already been mentioned here,I want to point out that the Society bears a heavy responsibility to the many who have been harmed by this unscriptural teaching.

The field service is a standard by which the Society uses to measure the spirituality of others in the Congregation.Their love of God,is also measured by the amount of field service they do.

Appointments to priviledges are based on the field service. Most important is the damage done to those who believe that this preaching is biblically taught and advocated.Damage such as separation from loved ones because of going to prison rather than stop preaching when told to by the authorities.

Some have even died when preaching in different parts of the earth, including the U.S.A.

So, it is more than a scam,it is a doctrine that has caused more harm than good.

Blueblades --- My main problem with the way they do it is that they send women and children to do a mans job . Who in his right mind would let his wife go around knocking on a strangers door and risk being raped or killed ? The dying part is pretty much a requirement so I don't feel like the WT has this tremendous blood guilt because some one died while preaching the message in the bible.

Heathen, who says that the dying part is pretty much a requirement???

The real issue is:Is this belief true? Is preaching by the method the Society teaches Bible based. If it is,then all the suffering and dying that resulted because of it can be viewed as suffering for Christ. And the authorities bear a heavy responsibility for the harsh measured they took to stop it.

If,on the other hand, the view developed in the minds and hearts of many who have suffered and died is not clearly and unmistakably taught in the Bible,if it is the result of an organizational policy based on human reasoning, then serious questions cannot help but arise as to the degree of responsibility that rests with the source of that teaching.

You know how they "encourage" you to go out in service? The elders will say how wonderful it is to get to "know" the brothers and sisters. It's supposed to be a "good time" of fellowship. So yes, much of the "preaching work" is done for the benefit of those already in the "truth". And if you get the added bonus of "finding a sheep", well, that can make your lifetime of service all the more worthwhile.

Honest hearted ones? You know why they call 'em that? Cause there's only one in each congregation. And NONE in the GB. Why, Ted Jacarz could trip over an honest hearted one and break his god damned fool leg and not recognize an honest hearted one. Why? Cause he don't know an honest hearted one from a can of Spam. I really think ol' Ted likes to eat pork 'n' beans and get in a warm soapy tub, fart, and try to bite the bubbles. And THAT is a compliment, so don't go cuttin' up my post, see?

That's how ol' Teddy gets his best ideas, from tryin' to bite fart bubbles in the tub. I heard he tries to lite 'em with one of them barbeque lighters with the long stem on it, but I think that's a damn no-count lie, designed to make Ted look silly myself.

If I remember correctly , I said that dying is pretty much a requirement . I mean jeeze if you read the new testament and how severly punnished the christians were by pagan nations you can't help but realize the danger involved with the whole thing . Rev 20:4 is one scripture that makes it clear that people were to endure this kind of treatment .
