Interesting thread. Elsewhere I bow down to you. Alfalfa had more intelligence than I do. ROFLMAO
Minimus,
I have been thinking about your question for a couple of days. Yes, I actually do think once in awhile. That is when my brain explodes into nothingness.
Now in Acts 2, it talks about Pentecost and the Holy Spirit. The people were were speaking in tongues but in Verse 16 it says: On the contrary, this is what was said through the prophet Joel. 17 says: "And in the last days," God says, "I shall pour out my spirit upon every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams;
I can't get my books right now but I also know that speaking in tongues and prophesying was done away with...forgot how that was manifest through the wt books.
Prophesy
1 : to utter by or as if by divine inspiration
2 : to predict with assurance or on the basis of mystic knowledge
The fact that the society prophesied the end so many times and their predictions were null and void that shows me that the Holy Spirit was never a part of GB. If the Holy Spirit were working with the GB or elders they would not prophesy about things that were unpredictable as stated in 1Thess 5:2. Now had the prophesies been fullfilled we would not be sitting here on this website contemplating the usefullness or lack of it in our own lives because in essence non of us would have been born. So time and again we question the beliefs we hold.
So there is no way the GB or the elders have Holy Spirit. The "New Light" replaces the old prophesies to dispell the growing doubt among themselves.
When a person goes to a tarot reader they are getting predictions into the future, if those predictions are not correct they never go back to that tarot reader, why? Because obviously they had no connection.
If it is a good tarot reader the querent always goes back. I think tarot readers are more connected to the Holy Spirit than elders.
