They were uneducated and ordinary men.—Acts 4:13.
In recent years, the spiritual instruction provided by Jehovah’s organization has reflected an increased emphasis on simplicity and clarity. Consider three examples. First, there is the simplified edition of The Watchtower. This edition has proved to be, in effect, a loving gift to those who struggle with language or find reading a challenge. Family heads are finding that their children are now more involved in the study of this journal, the main channel of our spiritual feeding program. Second, there is the revised edition of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. Many Scriptures now use fewer words, yet their meaning is intact or even clearer. Third, there are the recent refinements in our understanding, such as the clarified understanding of “the faithful and discreet slave.” (Matt. 24:45-47) What a delight it is to learn such truths and to teach them to new ones! w15 3/15 1:1, 4-6
First thought that came to my mind: WTF! Simplicity and clarity, yeah - everything has been dumbed down. BUT despite that, JW's still fail at being able to explain teachings that are the very basis of their faith! How many JW's are able to explain 1914? Or how about the "overlapping generation" "new light"? How many can explain the book of Revelation? These teachings should be simple and clear to them, right? Or not?
Recent refinements in understanding? If "refinements" are necessary, wouldn't it mean that the previous understandings were incorrect? And wouldn't that in turn make JW's false teachers who teach untruths? How sure are they that the "refined" understandings are now absolutely 100% correct? Does truth even have to be "refined" in the first place? If it has to be "refined" over and over again, how can it be called truth???
And what's this "uneducated and ordinary" part? How the hell does it even fit in with the rest of the comments??? Anyway, Jesus's disciples were uneducated and ordinary, BUT being labelled as "uneducated and ordinary" was a COMPLIMENT to them, because DESPITE being such they were able to astonish others with their teachings and miracles. Can the same be said about JW's today? Well, NO! Because when they are labelled unlettered and ordinary, that is what they REALLY are - unlettered and ordinary! There is NOTHING else special about them apart from that! Thanks to the anti-higher education stand, JW's are really uneducated. And no, finishing high school DOES NOT count as being educated nowadays! What contributions have JW's made towards the advancenment of science & technology? Do they perform humanitarian good deeds on a regular basis? How have they astounded others by means of their teaching? Oh, here's a good one - what miracles have they performed to make up for their being uneducated and ordinary? NONE! So Jesus's disciples had a reason to be proud for being uneducated and ordinary, but on the other hand, JW's are simply uneducated and ordinary and have nothing to show for it at all!!!
