I know that sounds silly, but I really don't have any. Not about a group of people.
Ok, you know what, you're right. I think the KKK is a bunch of freakin' as*holes, and I hope they rot in hell.

HappyOut, I think stereotyping is a better description of my behavior too. I never thought the word prejudice included the negative idea. I just thought it meant to "pre" (before) "judge." I wonder if that is the definition now because that is how the word has come to be used. By the etymology of the word there is no indication that is was originally meant to describe a harmful thought process.

I know that I am prejudiced and I try to keep to a lesser degree. I tend to want to lump people into a category and make a judgment because it is easier than getting to know them as individuals. It is a shorthand way of dealing with people. I consider being prejudiced having preconceived ideas based on others' data, good or bad, and being unwilling to adjust when presented better evidence or only seeing the evidence that fits your preconceived idea or explaining away any information.
Don't confuse me with the facts.

So you think it's easier to think that certain people or groups are known for being dumb, while others are recognized for their brains or known for their industriousness or laziness or whatever.....I remember sharing our Hall with 3 different congregations. One was the Spanish cong. They used to get so much upbraiding because they didn't give the same contributions toward the Hall as the other 2 congregations. They were maligned bcause they shopped at corner stores and spent more money than they had to. They were "counseled" because they had the latest, fanciest clothes and cars yet couldn't contribute the same as everyone else. These people were degraded by their fellow English speaking brothers and always looked down upon in the area. Why??? Because they were the "lazy Spanish brothers".....When I asked 1 certain elder if he felt he was prejudiced against Spanish and Mexicans, he said, "Well, I'll tellya what. I wish they weren't sharing the Kingdom Hall with us."......That answered my question.

One of my businesses is a retail business, and it is hard not to prejudge a person based on their appearance to whether or not they can qualify to buy.
Sadly, there are certain groups of people, that time after time have the same credit, and same buying ethics. Just the way it is.
Personally though, I "judge" someone by their character, rather than race or religion or anything else.

Yes, as hard as I try at times, I do have some prejudices. I know that not all of any race or creed can be stereotyped, but when you see someone one of a certain race live up to a stereotype, you will find yourself having those negative thoughts.
