Funky why do you keep bringing up Simon banning people? Is this part of your agenda?

How many people has Simon banned from this site over the years, conservative and liberal? I'd bet virtually all of them would say they'd been "censored". Was that really the case though?
People are deleted for not abiding by the posting guidelines, not for having a different opinion. I delete people who's opinions I may agree with if they can't take part in a sensible discussion.
What happens on this site though is hugely different to what Twitter, Facebook and Google do - they are relied on by many people, not just for social connections but for work and business.

Twitter & Facebook have determined that the whole NYP story is demonstrably false. They have determined that allowing posts that point to a misleading story violates their guidelines. I understand other people disagree with that assessment, but "other people" don't run Twitter or FB.
As for their "fact checkers". What basis do they have to determine if something is true or not? They are still fine with people posting thoroughly debunked lies such as the "fine people" hoax and "russian collusion" hoax as well as innumerable other false claims about racial incidents. They even allow people to post "death to America" rants, murder videos, rape and child abuse links.
Seems they are way to busy censoring political speech which is EXACTLY what they are doing - it's nothing todo with whether something is true or not (because the Biden camp is not denying it and changing their story of denial to "oh, well, he may have had a meeting ...")
There is no way to defend what the censors have done other than that it is showing unfair political bias and an abuse of the position they are in. They should not have the protections they enjoy if they are going to be the publisher of content on their platform OR consumers need legal protection to avoid service being denied based on their political outlook.
It's the "bake me a cake" rule come back to bite you.

That's a surprising reaction. Isn't the conservative position that there is already too much government oversight of private enterprise? That the market will reward or punish the behavior of private corporations and government should just leave them be, and stick to national defense and maintaining civil order?
Up to a point. The role of government is to ensure a level playing field and protect consumers against abuses that arise with monopolistic power.
What people don't want is meaningless government oversight and regulation that is often just a masquerade for state / union control of certain industries and a way for them to levy additional charges on business.

I've been banned by Simon not because I didn't abide to the posting rules. My posts were always respectful (on the contrary a lot of name calling against some views by Simon himself) but they sometimes did contain some sarcasm.
How do you call it, if you are complaining against censorship of Twitter, Facebook etc. while you censor yourself things that you just personally don't agree?
So Minimus, yes this matter belongs to this thread.

So Daniel, you got banned by Simon because you were being sarcastic?? Ok...
Simon mentioned the Russian collusion hoax. It clearly was. Still some people will ignore facts and say Trump is a Russian agent working for Putin. This has been debunked. If someone here keeps suggesting this is what happened, I’m glad Simon sees he won’t tolerate this type of crap.👍👍

This is untrue but of course you'll want to spin in so that you were unfairly treated rather than that you didn't abide by the rules.
BTW: one of those rules is not publicly disputing decisions. There's a way to complain, as detailed in the terms / posting guidelines, this isn't it. If you think I won't act because it will somehow "prove your point" then you are sadly mistaken.
I tolerated you coming back now with multiple duplicate accounts. My tolerance for you is done because you just remind me how tiresome you are and I have better things todo with my time than to pander to people who want to act up for the gallery.

We had a particular black poster who always suggested that we were white racists. You could be talking about the weather and somehow she would say we are racists. Simon gave her a number of opportunities to quit the disruptive behavior. Instead she was in your face even more with the racism bs. After repeated warnings she was gone.
I’ve been here for a long time. I see Simon as a guy who has simply decided not to put up with ridiculous crap anymore. Intelligent discussion is more than allowed but stick to facts.

Yes, sometimes it's that the same people constantly consume time and attention, causing trouble but think they are clever by never going quite too far to justify action.
I weigh-up the overall balance in the same way that someone losing their cool as a one off maybe just that they are having a bad day. When the same name comes up and is creating issues or posting garbage over and over, then I will act. Garbage can be demanding the same explanation over and over and intentionally derailing threads (a common trick when people don't have an argument).
Making fake claims of racism is a good example. Certainly racism exists, but when people see it everywhere and want to interject it into every topic or claim that everyone who doesn't agree with them is therefore racist, it simply becomes tiresome and if they can't control themselves, they need to find another community more suited to their needs.
