How many grown men decide "damnit, I wish I'd been circumcised ... but it's OK, I'll get it done now. No, no, I don't want any anaesthetic - just use a knife". None - that's how many. So stick the crazy tales how how it's somehow a wonderful thing. It is driven by religious dogma and ignorance.

ALL of the excuses saying it doesn't hurt, isn't mutilation and is beneficial are utterly ridiculous.

Unless there is a specific medical need (which I don't buy) and it's the person's own choice then no one has any right forcing this on a baby.

I didn't have my sons circumcized. One had complications from an infection and one didn't. When they were little, neither of them would let me clean them there because it tickled too much, and my circumcized husband was never much help, so I hope they do this sometimes on their own and I have reminded them but I doubt they clean it well, if ever.I have a question about orgasm. Because the uncircumcised penis is much more sensitive, is it true that the man having sex will be done very quickly? And similarly, I dont at all understand female circumcision. A man very much enjoys female orgasm, usually brought on by clitoral stimulation. If she is circumcized, that is destructive to everyone! She is more likely to refuse sex, and even if she doesn't, she probably doesn't orgasm and he can't enjoy the contractions. Strange tradition.

Well, I never got a good answer from an elder or other WTS appointed rep since circumcision was/is not required of Christians (except in the case of Titus and Timothy 2 approaches) and a twisting supposed explanation. So are jw male children cirucumcised in countries that maintain a Jewish custom...who would be checking. Then will all males be circumcised in the WTS paradise? Will men resurrected be resurrected in the uncircumcised state that Adam was created in? What was the purpose of circumcision in the bible, to identify a group of people as belonging to the Hebrew god? (not that other non-Hebrew groups did not practice it; was Abraham's son Ishmael circumcised; what about Abraham's sons by his last wife Keturah; was Lot circumcised and his sons/grandsons?

Have you ever wondered what situations one would be in to know if all the other guys were cut or not cut? Was it public bathhouses? Pubic latrines? I thin it is said that homosexuality was rampant in the Greek culture but one assumes this was not common among Christians. What were all these guys doing wagging their schlongs around that everyone was looking at everyone else?

This thread is very interesting because it highlights the differences in thinking between different cultures, backgrounds, sexes, etc.

Kate wild has a Jewish background, so it makes sense that she has only seen male circumcision as a positive thing. Like most topics, we generally have not researched them and have the opinion that was imposed upon us from our religion or culture.

Simon and everyone who has a European (but not Jewish) background will likely see male circumcision as abhorrent.

People who are of an American, born in the 60's or 70's background, will likely see male circumcision as OK, because they have up to a 90% likelihood of being circumcised.

Most people who have ever watched porn will know that most penises in porn or circumcised, possibly because of the fact that a lot of the porn industry is US-based. Since porn has a great influence on people's sexual expectations, it's likely that American women expect a circumcised man. (I am speculating here).

I was born in El Salvador, where apparently less than 10% of men are circumcised. My mother was a JW when I was born, and I have a strong suspicion that because of a WT article being very pro-circumcision at that time, that I was circumcised.

After reading the many reports of how there is so much sexual pleasure lost because of circumcision, I am outraged at the fact my mother chose that for me.

Also, after watching for a few seconds a video of a circumcision being done, I am firmly opposed to it, it should be banned. The baby was screaming in pain, because of the injections required to put anesthesia. I stopped watching after a few seconds it was very painful to even watch.

The WHO recommends male circumcision in places where there is a high incidence of HIV because it has been proven that male circumcision reduces by about 60% the probability of transmission from a female to a male of HIV. But this is ridiculous, a condom, properly used, is 100% effective.

How hot are the Muslimas and the Jewesses in your neck of the woods should be the barometer for whether you circumcise your son or not. The anti argument has merit, but marriage and relationship prospects matter depending on where you live and your family background. There are an awful lot of wealthy and gorgeous Muslimas and Jewesses here in California, and I worry about the pain a young man might have to face if he pursues one with an eye on marriage. Young women have the money more than young men nowadays.

I think this is one of those times where cultures should be told to f**k off - no culture is sacred.

Circumcision is mutilation and should not generally be carried out on a baby boy. The exception being if there is a medical need, then qualified medical staff should sort the problem out. Not weirdy-beard religious nuts.

I agree whole-heartedly LUHE !

Female circumcision is just abhorrent and not justified in any circumstances, and male Big Cut should be used in the rare circumstance that it is medically necessary, as with a good friend of mine, who had to undergo it in adulthood !

He always was quite the stud though, so it was necessary, to enable him to carry on with his hedonistic ways, lucky bugger.
