I think I'm just ornery when it comes to equality. Ever since I can remember, I've always believed that all people were created equal. The colour of a person's skin is irrelevent to me. I recoiled at my JW upbringing when it came to women being "in subjection", my believing that marriage was a partnership, not an ownership, and that both parties were of equal value. I never cared about a person's sexual orientation, I reasoned that just because I couldn't understand the attraction it didn't mean that everyone else felt the same way. This is why political correctness so pisses me off. I know what I believe without PC people continually telling me what I should believe. I sometimes wonder if PC is actually driving folk into one extreme opinion or the other. IMHO, continually labelling people with the 'ist or 'phobe tag actually does nothing at all except polarise the person who isn't conforming to our own grand ideas. OMG - he called me an 'obe! I'd better change my views immediately! Yeah, that works....snort. Oh, and BTW, anyone who simply can't resist hanging an 'obe or an 'ist label on me after being infuriated by this post should know that I am indeed, globophobic. So there.

Has politically correct culture gone too far?- YES, but this would be said by most generations. However in my opinion I believe today Its killing freedom of Speech in Western Universities, and at my boys infant school crazy hair day was banned. Nonetheless in my opinion if an individual or a group do not like to be referred to by a certain term, we should respect their wishes.

If you believe in the Bible , Jehovah never created all people equal , in Genesis , the Male Adam was the dominant being and the Female Eve was to be subordinate to the male Adam .
No equality their I`m afraid .
This was the prime belief in the Old Testament / The Hebrew Scriptures
and it is sanctioned in the New Testament /the Christian Greek Scriptures.
Women according to the Bible need to know their place.
When the WT publications show in illustrations the 144000 in heaven ,( and their have been many ) they all have beards , why is that ,? no women are among the 144000 ?
The WTB&TS have shown over the years they do not appreciate /respect women for their contribution in this day and age .
In Bible times they were given much more respect and recognition as prophetess and women of prominence , that is not recognized or acknowledged in the WTB&TS today.

However I think it should be noted that " Political Correctness Gone Mad" is a term popularised by the newspapers to sell newspapers. These stories are often blown out of all proportion.
Please tell me who was trying to ban England shirts during the Euros? Who will be trying to ban Chistmas this year? Who says Iam not allowed to sing " Baa, Baaa, Blacksheep?
The Answer:- The Newspapers. And because it's in the Newspaper it doesn't make it true, and if a story has an element of truth, it's because it's usually largely exaggerated.

That is an extremely true statement, I personally have not purchased a newspaper for any reason other then advertisements in more then 30 years. I lived in Washington DC for 50 years, there is one National Park you see in pictures all the time it is a straight shot. All grass nothing but grass very well maintained and kept cleaned every day and night by the United States Park Service. You will see their people there all the time cleaning. My estranged husband and many of my friends are now retired but at the time were United States Park Police Officers. One particular day a demonstration went bad and the demonstrators according to the printed media and the TV media "picked up what was available to defend themselves against the police" . What they found in this very clean Grass park to us 4 X 4 with spikes nailed through them. More then a dozen officers were hospitalized and out of work for some time due to their injuries. Newspaper nor the media NEVER told that part of the story nor the Officer's horse that was injuried. They only talked about the undue force the officers took trying to break up the fighting between the different protesters. Oh and no one was shot that day.

"Political Correctness" has gone too far in to the consciousness of many people, so they are afraid to speak their mind.
If speaking their mind reveals them to be a Bigot, or ignorant, then so be it. But for them to suppress their thoughts means those thoughts will not be challenged, and they will think they are correct in their views.
Look at JW's ! they rarely are challenged in the views.
I certainly speak out against silly beliefs, this is not an attack on, or disrespectful to, the person holding such beliefs, just pointing out the silliness of what they believe.
I will also speak out against practices which are dubious, such as the indoctrination of the young in Jewish, Islamic and Christian Schools, or their respective places of worship.
I will speak out against any injustice, to anybody.
I have been told to my face a number of times to "Be quiet", or to "be careful" because my words are not Politically Correct.
My words are not designed to inflame hatred or incite violence, only to make people look in the mirror, and to THINK .
Stuff P.C as regards those kind of words, they need not just speaking, but SHOUTING !

Phizzy,
You are 100% correct and when they step on my property with their literature they will get a witnessing that they were not expecting. ARC and the other pedophile cases, how to raise children and how to treat women as their equals.
It is not just Witnesses but any injustices are worth fighting. That is why Fighter got tacked onto my name. LOL

My two cents. I live in USA, culturally I'm not American, I am gay, I am dark, I speak with an accent, I'm not young and I have a disability. So I know one or two things about isms in this country. You want to dislike me for any ism, you will find a reason for it.
If a person like you tells me that you have no problem with me for being ___________, I may be skeptical at first, may start trusting you gradually, but I will definitely match your words with your actions. If you make a remark that I find offensive, or establish an opinion on any social issue that I disagree on, or just say something I don't like hearing, I don't go around labeling people an 'obe or 'ist.Depending on how relevant that person is, I may or may not address any issue with that person directly. The only people I'd characterize as an 'obe or 'ist are those who openly admit to be so.
Yes, I do see a number of people who are all about ranting about being discriminated against, claiming discrimination very time that they do something wrong and are told, or using their "minority" status to get things. But I am very clear about the difference between having an opinion and intending to offend and shun people based on race, and I am pretty capable, intelligent and skillful to accomplish pretty much what I want in spite of.
And then there are a number of people who truly believe in equality, that is until a minority person out performs him/her. There are a number of people who are full of themselves and claim that they are not racist (they just happen to never relate to anyone of a different race than them). So if you feel scrutinized for what you claim, please understand that there are a number of people who like you claim to believe in equality, but (probably unlike you), are full of nonsense and their actions show otherwise.

PC'ess relies on the politics of taking offence.
There's always someone offended now, whatever benign thing is being done.
And while people are outraged over trivialities they can ignore the massive human rights abuses happening around the world.
