Climate change is real and has always been real since the beginning of earths existence.

What is not real is that humans can do anything to control it globally. Humans can only control the micro climate of the environment, such as cleaning up cities from smog. etc.

    Nonjwspouse,

You are right, co2 levels have risen and fallen in a natural cycle and we have charted almost 1 million years worth of data thanks to the gas trapped in ice core samples.

But the problem is, for at least the last million years, co2 has never risen past 300 parts per million. That changed in the 1950's, coincidentally as the world started to scale up industry in the post ww2 boom. That decade saw the rise of coal fuelled power stations, commercial air travel and of course, everyone started owning cars.

Since that decade, co2 levels have kept climbing and are now close to 400 parts per million, a 30% rise in about 70 years.

Climate scientists have for years predicted a rise is average temps, a rise is sea levels and more intense weather systems, which is now measurable and observable.

I personally find it hard to believe that human industrial activity since 1950's coinciding with the increase in co2 levels by 30% in only 70 years is nothing but pure coincidence.

The last two years were the coldest where I live. The coldest February on record. We hit -50 Celsius one day. I haven’t seen that since 1996. We had a cold rainy summer as well.

Australia's capital Canberra just broke its record high, it was 48c. That's happening all over australia. A cold snap in the local area means very little in comparison to average temps.

I don't understand why people say "climate change" is a 'hoax'. The earth has had drastic "Climate changes" over and over and over and over and over again. If you don't think it will/is happening then please go back to the watchtower where you can believe that the earth was created for humans to live forever on.

This has nothing to do with Greta T, and why her name was brought up is retarded.

The issue to me is, or question rather. Do humans think that they will cause it? Or, are causing it? And just precisely how is that propaganda being forced down our throats. As if we could stop it, (global warming, climate change) from happening. Did the Continents peacefully slide apart 1000's and 1000's of years ago? Like some "lazy river ride" at a water park? Get real!

Lets just recycle and stop using fossil fuels to "turn our planet around". Ahh, peace at last. Then BOOM! A meteor strikes earth. Or a super volcano explodes taking most of life out...ect ect...

BTW, the earth itself splits open and dumps oil in the ocean naturally and has done so for thousands of years. I could go on, but wont as the OP is living in a nightmarish condition and emotions are running high. As to be expected.

Seems like it would happen eventually even if we were all banging rocks on the ground for fire and living in huts.

    @joey jojo,

Its beyond devastating whats happening in Australia. It sucks that the phrase "climate change" is so triggering for people. So much so that it drowns out a post from someone living in a virtual nightmare. Be safe and take care of yourself.

It’s very alarming what’s going on in Australia! If JWs could contribute to the solution to the problems we face as a planet then that would be a very welcome turn of events.

I wonder if it is possible JWs may contribute to the solution to environmental problems such as climate change. This article that discusses a perhaps somewhat surprising involvement of JWs in environmental work in the Galápagos Islands. If this becomes widespread it would be an interesting development.

Abstract: Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, this essay examines how the local Jehovah’s Witnesses’ response to the current ecological crisis on the Galápagos Islands has produced a distinct form of religious environmentalism. Specifically, I argue that the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ vision of the ultimate future informs action rather than despair—contrary to what is often assumed about millenarian beliefs. This essay joins voices in Christian feminist and eco-theology interested in reclaiming eschatology for its imaginative valence. Yet, unlike invocations for hope that lack consideration of their viability, my ethnographic approach contributes to this literature with a view of the practical reverberations of eschatology. Further, current discussions about ecological unraveling, often couched around the concept of the Anthropocene, have reinforced expert-driven, techno-scientific measures that exclude other forms of knowledge production and practical interventions. If such worries continue to motivate a paradigm of conservation that exclude locals, my essay shows how the local Jehovah’s Witnesses promote a valuable alternative form of environmentalism, on the Galápagos and elsewhere.

Climate change is real. Remember that several thousands years ago most the planet was frozen in ice (i.e. ice Age). Man-made climate change may be real. 24 individuals were just arrested for intentionally starting the wildfires in Australia.

The bigger issue is that the human species is intentionally poisoning its air, water, and farmland for profit. That is morally wrong and suicide on a global scale. Genocide of the species.

We need to stop polluting immediately. We need to change our lifestyle and end the consumer based society. The planet will heal itself over time, but we have to stop polluting it first.

There have been something like 180 cases of arson - these fires are only indirectly linked to climate change in that the people pushing it are often behind the burning. Same deal as in Brasil.

So yes, the "effects of climate change are man made", but not in the way people imagine. It reminds me a little of the Islamists that start attacking other Muslims because they don't think they are supporting the 'cause with enough zeal.

Pump people full of belief that they have to take urgent action and this is what you get - people trying to speed up the 'armageddon', just like other religious loonies do.

Climate change is all about money, nothing but money. All the solutions just involve taking money off people. Socialists and globalists have latched onto it as a way to enact wealth redistribution and force mass immigration.

The changes have been progressing for hundreds if not thousands of years and we are better off on a planet with more CO2 than less.

The universe won't blink an eye, and things will go on. Mankind, even one whole planet, isn't really that important on a universal scale.

I would add that we are not even that important for the earth -- on the contrary. The earth would be much better off if we didn't exist. Dare I say that perhaps we might be working towards exactly that.

We have been terrible stewards of this planet. The industrial revolution, for all the great things that it brought us to make our lives so much better, it also put us on the fast lane towards the precipice.

How do you unwind decades of making financial gain the center of practically every decision that is made? I don't think you can.

Btw, there is no better way to see how this denial of climate change is nothing more than an idiotic American political ideology, than to simply travel abroad to different places like I have recently.

You can walk into any room of people in other countries, where they are not partial to American political affiliation, and you quickly realize they only care about facts.

You know, facts. Facts like how greenhouse gases trap heat. Or how carbon dioxide is a green house gas, or how it's a fact that carbon emissions have been going up by orders of magnitude, and how humans are responsible for those emissions.

Once you get rid of the political sheep-like affiliation, even a toddler can understand basic facts.
