  Thousands-upon-thousands of Jehovah's Witnesses are gathering together this weekend for the 2017 "Don't Give Up!" Special Congress being held in Wien from Friday 16 through to Sunday 18 June 2017 at the Happel Stadion.

  Local Witnesses will be joined by many hundreds of specially invited delegates from as far away as United States with the programme being given in German as well as in Croatian and English.

  In preparation for the event the Witnesses, familiar to all through both their door-to-door activity and street displays for their Bible magazine The Watchtower, have being spending the last three weeks distributing invitations to the public to attend this free event.

  The highlight for many of the delegates will be on Saturday when hundreds of new converts from all walks of life and of all ages are due to be accepted into the faith by means of full water baptism.

  It is great to see the videos and I thank all those that have put them up..... but has anyone got a link to seeing on-line the whole programme including the talks? I see all the outlines , which is good but to see and hear them delivered is the thing.

  The WTS used to run a service JWStream....if only we had an access code?

  An Austrian radio station brought a short report about Geoffrey Jackson first visit to Vienna. He spoke to delegates from the USA, Germany, Balkan States and the Czech Republic.

  Jackson said in many parts of the world JW would be a growing religious community.

  "Its true that worldwide we are seeing good growth, but perhaps in countries were people have still a strong respect for the bible. Africa, Central America and South America.
  Those countries that no longer consider the bible a sacred book .... perhaps our growth is a little slowing in those countries."

  Behind the ban in Russia Jackson assumes a low tolerant climate in Russia.

  "Maybe the traditional belief systems there in Russia find it very challenging when people dont follow the same type of belief systems."

  David A. Semonian, a speaker of the headquarter in Warwick announced that last year 13 millions attended the conventions worldwide. (press text)

  Further it was reported that about 21.500 persons served last year active in the missionary service.

  In Austria the number of JW in the 299 communities would have remained stabil, while other churches would face a shrinkage of members
  

  However it is strange that a province paper from the district in which the convention took place wrote about an awaited talk of a brother Zimmermann about child abuse, what would be the scandalous subject that would actually now stress the community. But nothing heard about this again.

  Ok here's one for you music fans out there. Sunday morning program, second video, when the sister is looking through her old photos: what's the name of that famous instrumental tune this video is sooo clearly copied from?

  I think it's from the 70s. It's something that was played a lot on BBC Radio 2, as the theme to one of their programs I think.

  Thats the trouble with instrumentals: hard to search for them on the Internet!
