This is a quote on education that I have kept and says it all.

"the Awake! Magazine came out with some very clear direction to teenagers. The May 22, 1969 issue on page 15 stated:

If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the “last days” in 1914, Jesus foretold: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” – Matt. 24:34.
Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way towards its finish, if not actually gone! It’s been 49 years since that article came out!".

The wt bashing of education was a main reason I left.

    NEAT BLUE DOG:

It really defies common sense that the religion is STILL bashing college and careers today... I’m shaking my head in disbelief that they are still clinging to this. Can’t they admit that they made a mistake?

Any Baby Boomers and other older JWs who are struggling to eke out a living because they did not get a decent job or prepare for retirement can certainly attest to this!

All I can say is that I am very glad I walked away from this religion years ago.

Not work toward wealth or a decent career? That, to me, sounds like communism. What about getting wealth and taking care of it or putting it to good use, buying good stuff that doesn't come from Walmart, and taking care of it? You can buy decent tools with this money, and with those tools you can learn to take care of it (to me, that is one of the few items that is even more valuable than silver, which you can also invest in).

And, what about those who pursue a career, do a good job, and do not get fired? Even if you do get fired later, at least you have a platform to launch another career or continue this one at another firm. Skills are developed, and those skills can translate to furthering your career, starting another one, or even taking care of yourself. Can you do that pious-sneering?

Human ideas can and do change. This is why you need to cross-reference things. Your ideas may be only part right--and part wrong. Part of the process of learning from others is learning from their mistakes. Can you do that when you are forced to abide by ideas that the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger imposes? And, when they do not work, you still have to abide by them until they themselves change them. This is not how to learn from the mistakes of others.

In a couple of videos, they promote a very negative attitude about bettering yourself and taking career opportunities.

The WTS has been propagating this for decades ie. 1950's

Even discouraging people to have children .

The core part of this propagation is that Jehovah's new kingdom order was imminent and this worldly system of things is about to come to an end, so there is more important work an individual should be a part of.

What this really was is a cunning and tricky way to get people to distribute the literature the WTS published, corrupt commercialism.

    From the o/p

'Human ideas are often changed and updated. Why? Often because the advice was wrong or wasn't that great.'

Seriously? Do they actually see the irony? JW stuff is updated literally ALL THE TIME . . . Is it for the same reason“

True it it is not good advise... and the fundamental flaw is that it is simply HUMAN, not from God as they like to pretend. If they really stuck to the Scripture, it would be different.

Skype logo was shown onscreen. It makes me wonder if their was some sort of financial incentive.

YOU CAN BET THE ARE GETTING $ FOR THAT!!!

After what I learned about why the WT puts so much preasure on the "sheep" to go to the hotels they tell them to go, I am 100% the are looking for ANY way to monitized the "friends".

It really is one of the more disgusting things about the WT since they dont disclose any of this, (how the friends are a profit center for the WT).

The Watchtower Corporation = brainwash slavery for money and souls

Plain and simple the WTS/JWorg is an apostate commercialized entity that exploits people for money and labor in a guise of preaching the Gospel of Jesus and his new Kingdom.

Or putting it in another way the WTS. is a corrupt disingenuous religoius publishing house and has been since its very beginning.

Thanks, Spiral. I fully agree with you. There are so many Dubs who have gone through financial upheavals and also, thinking that they "will gain blessings from Jehovah", downsized their lives (i.e., from either full-time employment to parttime employment to unemployment, more than 1 decent running car to a junky-janky hoopty, a nice house to tiny house to 1 bedroom or studio apartment, etc.) and had to apply for government subsidies (i.e., food stamps, transportation passes, and so on) just to survive from day to day. And NO SUPPORT FROM WT, because the GB are selfish, greedy bums! I know because I speak from experience: The city government where I resided at the time caused plenty of layoffs. This affected myself, my siblings and a relative who lived together. We had to really scrape from the bottom of the barrel in order to make due/survive. This financial crisis occurred for approx. 3-4 years back in the 1990s. All the cong members would say that "the best thing to do is to go out more in service, pray, attend every meeting and wait on Jah"! Really sick and tired of WT and their ungodly rhetoric. Sorry for the long rant!
