The joke is on you, unfortunately. No matter how many times you click the like counter it only records one for your account.
But at least you can get your jollies or frustrations out manic-clicking to see the count go up 😀

... you'll find it didn't go up on anyone else's though.
It's one of those cases where the effort to ensure visual consistency across devices just isn't worth the development effort or extra runtime cost. Who would it "help", other than someone determined to like the same things umpteen times in a row?
Sometimes it's useful being able to flag people who are trying to abuse the system. Maybe at some point their likes or dislikes stop being counted at all. Well, just on everyone else's screens of course ;)
