Slightly OT , but with the rise of JW dot Org , increasingly I am hearing witnesses describe themselves or talking about the religion as JW / JWs.
For example with work , I was at a conference and bumped into an active JW who works in the same industry in a different part of the country but whom I hadn't seen for many years. We chatted for a bit & he clearly was unsure if I was still a witness so he asked me "I hope you don't mind me asking , but are you still a JW?" I explained that I no longer attended but I wasn't DFd but it wasn't something I really wanted to talk about & he seemed OK with that , but explained that he was still an elder and his family were all still in. I thought it was interesting that he used the shorthand of "JW" rather than "Jehovah's Witnesses" or simply "a witness".
